AFN should air commercials. Certainly would be more worthwhile to watch then some of propaganda on there.

My favorite:

The 4 classmates and teacher discussing what to do when craving a cigarette:

USE A CIGARETTE SUBSTITUTE!

HAVE A CARROT STICK!

USE A STRAW!

I'm watching the promos where they feature the rock bands like Twisted Sister, etc. Those are boring as hell. Is the conduct of that soldier becoming??

I saw one today that aggravated me. It's the one where the guy was captured in Vietnam but refused to denounce America. In return he was tortured more severely and deprived of food more than others...for something like 10 years. So he suffered greater than anyone but managed to uphold the "code of conduct"...not so sure that was worth it.

Ok, I saw another one today. The highschool rock band singing "It isn't automatic" song about your foreign spouse and tax forms...funny as hell...

I also noted the one where the guy gets his Travel Card and goes right to the elctronics store with it.

What about Mad Man Mike? Where did he go?

Yes! That was a good one.
I worked with him years ago, he's got some good ideas.
I guess Mike T left.
He also had a good radio show.
I think the current afternoon drive-time guy is pretty good.
Sorry, can't remember his name, but he's on from about 2-6pm...excellent show.

I just got a kick out of the one where the soldier is talking about going to college.

"I got the brochure and everything was fine. But then came the application, enrollment forms, student loan applications....before I knew it I was in over my head."

Phew, good thing he had the education office to help him out, otherwise he would never have made it into college.

AFN is disturbingly Orwellian, but i sometimes enjoy their history tidbits on individual US states

I know abuse is a really serious issue, but the one with the mother and her son is great. Her husband calls and says he'll be late and "Danny! get your bag off the counter. I have to go to the store now and when I get home your homework better be done!!!" "Whatever you say, mom!"

And then, what she should have done.....she has a kind of psycho glint in her eye when she says "Danny, your father is going to be late, so I'm going to go to the store now. Can you take your bag off the counter please?"

"Sure mom"
