http://www.lightningware.co.uk/software/details.asp?code=LWS-VME

VME is a new application that allows you to stream DivX and XviD to your Xbox 360 and Media Center Extender - but it doesnt stop there! Its also a complete encoding and streaming suite, allowing you to do such things as stream video from a web browser and PDA, while seamlessly converting your video to MS formats while you sleep!

MCE is also offered on his website. I think it's better. VME seems to be slower akin to bloatware. MCE is less than 1 MB.

Both softwares stream video from PC to XBox 360. If this is your only concern, go with MCE.

Oh glad I found this thread...

I don't have mediacenter--I use XP. And I don't want to take the time it takes to convert video from divx or whatever to wmv. Is there a quick and dirty way to stream any video file to the 360 without having mediacenter or converting the file?

So far, every wmv I've streamed has looked great. I get the torrents for wmv files at 720p or 1080p and they look as good as any DVD.

Spliff is associating streamed videos with the ones that you can get from the internet of your favorite TV shows, not the streaming of high quality video from another computer on a LAN.
