|
|
Mr. Primetime Deion Sanders has chimed in on the Vick situation. I guess (who knew?) he is a weekly columnist for the Fort Myers News-Press. He contends that the whole situation is a matter of perspective:
Quote: |
This is all the result of perspective. What a dog means to Vick might be a lot different than what he means to you or I. |
He thinks the media should be focusing on another NFL story that happened this off season:
Quote: |
Who shot Darrant Williams? Remember the Denver Bronco cornerback? I'm just more concerned about bringing to justice someone who killed a human. Or finding out who broke into Miami Heat forward Antoine Walker's home, tied him up and robbed him at gunpoint. |

The only question left is: what does Michael Irvin think?
This is my favorite line:
"The allure is the intensity and the challenge of a dog fighting to the death. It's like ultimate fighting, but the dog doesn't tap out when he knows he can't win."
So it's just like ultimate fighting, except one of the dogs always dies. Oh, and the dogs don't choose to be in it. And if one of the dogs doesn't die in the ring it might get killed by its trainers for being too weak. Besides that, just like ultimate fighting. |

I love dogs. I find this Vick thing disgusting beyond description. If the allegations are proven to be true, he should get the full 6 years in the can. But...he's a football hero in the USA so my guess is nothing will happen. |

I've met people in other countries who are dog fighters/trainers, chicken fighters....... and Deon is right, it is a matter of perspective. In that situation it wasn't about enjoying seeing dogs fight to the death, it was a way to make a living in a third world country. Vick's situation is entirely different. He is not out to make a living. He enjoys seeing dog's kill each other. While it's not more serious than being robbed at gunpoint, I can see him getting a pretty stiff sentence on this. It's all about American politics and perception. |

Michael Vick should be suspended for at least a year. He has had an active few offseasons as far as screw ups go. The guy Flips off the fans at a home game, the guy has the whole "Ron Mexico" persona, and teh hidden compartment in the water bottle as well. Add to this the dog fighting, this guy may have ruined his multi-million dollar career over something so stupid. |
