Also, some of the new staff keeps giving out locker keys in sequential order. So, even there are only three guys in the gym, they will have to stand shoulder to shoulder in the locker room even though there are a hundred lockers.

Yes. Yes. Yes. I tried to casually question the desk staff as to why they do this and all I got was blank stares. I'm fairly sure I asked in a way that the they could understand, but it seemed like they just didn't understand why it is a problem to have to change right beside the dude who walked in minutes before me.

At any rate, it's funny to hear that this doesn't just happen at my gym.

As with the gym I used to go to in England, if you don't talk very much to the gym staff, they seem to take offence and look at you from a distance in groups and sometimes make childish gestures as an attempted joke at your expense.

I've ignored them so expertly they almost ignore me now, which is nice.

It must be universal, you have to be mentally retarded, insecure, but a physically fit moron to work at a gym.

Some gym staff don't realize their customers are not obliged to talk/socialize with them. Some people go to a gym to get exercise and for no other reason.

I also think I irritate the staff because I go on the treadmill and that's it. I don't participate in any of those awful group activities they have.

There is a gym in the basement of the building that my school is in. Between classes I go outside to smoke, so I always see the gym goers pass by. We say hi, etc.....
The previous trainer in the gym was this huge, short guy. One day, he was outside talking with some other people and was apparently yelling or saying something rude. Some students in my school yelled something out the window, equally rude, i suppose, during the break... This guy got so angry. When I came into class, everybody was silent. The 3 girls told me they met a crazy, angry, huge guy in the elevator who was cursing and yelling the whole way up. The boys were scared cause they figured it was the guy they yelled at. 2 minutes later, the director of the school and the trainer come into the class to find out who yelled. The trainer is still visibly angry, as is the director. When the trainer sees me, he's a bit shaken, i say hi, he bows, says everything is OK, apologizes, and leaves.
2 days later when i go to the gym, I want to talk to him and apologize for the students, etc.... but he is gone. He doesn't work there anymore.
Could be a million reasons why, but i think that had something to do with it.
ohhh, and he wore those funny zebra-MC Hammer pants and gloves with no tips
