|
I am in a PC Bang right now. I was thinking about watching a movie online, but I think I am going to leave instead.
There are at least 3 guys in front of me talking at a volume that I'd consider to be almost shouting volume.
What's the deal with this? Why do they need to talk so loudly? Don't they care that they might be disturbing other people in the PC bang? Why doesn't the PC Bang owner tell them to settle down? Do you think it's part of the culture here?
Anybody else bothered by this in PC Bangs? |

Another why question...Why don't you ask them? As if anyone would know the answer here on Dave's. |

Young people all over the world tend to equate volume with having a good time. The louder we get the better time we're having.
Alas, in Korea, people don't seem to grow out of that idea. |

First, the obligatory "Why the hell don't you have a computer at home yet?" question. Is it because you are too cheap? If that is the case, then you do deserve what you get for $1 an hour PC room.
I have had to rely on PC rooms a few times. Here's the deal: headphones. Buy a set of headphones and bring them with you. Plug in your mp3 player through the USB connection, and turn on some tunes while you're there. No more gum cracking, SHIBAL yelling at Kart Rider, and idiotic child banter.
Another alternative, if someone is being unusually and obscenely loud, is to go to the person working at the counter and complain. I've gotten people thrown out of PC rooms before for bothering me. Don't be afraid to talk to Koreans (unless they are wearing an NY Yankees hat, tilted a bit). |

Memories of the bimbos who'd stand in front of Seoul shops, screaming at the top of their lungs to 'dance music'. God help the man who ended up married to one of them. In general, Korea was an assault on the senses, and not in a nice way. |

I was on a bus with a couple friends and we were all talking at normal volume. Next thing I know, this ajoshi taps me on the shoulder and tells me to be quiet. |

i don't know if its due to the fact i don't speak korean, and i therefore focus on other types of noise, but i find korea to be SO noisy - gym, ajuma aerobics classes in my building, people walking down the street playing music on their phones, the sales pitches roared in lotte/e mart, trucks selling things, BB style announcements in my apartment, kids screaming....
the list goes on. |

I'm in a PC Bang now too. My internet at home has only worked intermittently since I've been in country, so PC Bangs are slowly becoming my best friend.
You know in America and Canada people talk really loudly too, right? Back in university, I had a hard time studying anywhere on campus because people were always yelling and shouting. Ever go drinking in North America? Everyone yells and screams. Of course, in daily discourse too. There are always people talking extremely loudly in coffee shops, on the street... where ever.
Westerners I see in Seoul talk loudly quite often.
Its not a Korean thing. Whenever there is a place with many people, some will talk loudly. |
