I've been having problems with SMOE. I informed them nearly 3 weeks ago that I would be leaving on vacation at the end of next week and would not be able to renew my visa when back in the states. They've had my passport and alien ID card for the last week and half and I just got a call from them yesterday late afternoon telling me that they haven't even sent my paperwork in to be renewed and that it would take a week to renew a visa with a change of address. They were wondering if I could renew the visa when i come back from vacation or while on vacation.
What I am wondering is whether anyone has renewed their visa while changing from one public school to another. How long did going to the immigration office and getting your visa renewed take? |

Sounds like typical SMOE this time of year. Sometimes their heads are faaaaar up their ass.
Your post is confusing. Are you with SMOE now? Or are you a new SMOE hire?
If you are currently with SMOE, you can renew your visa at immigration in 20 minutes (if you get on the Internet and make an appointment, and it's in Korean).
If you are not currently with SMOE, I'm not sure how the visa renewal works. |

I'm a SMOE new hire. However, SMOE has told me that because I work for a public school in Gyeonggi-do, I only need to do a renewal and change of location to my visa, not apply for a whole new visa abroad.
I just finished my call to the immigration office to find information about this and they've informed me that my address has been changed to Seoul, so it looks like they've actually sent my paperwork to be processed and it is being processed. |
