Im currently working for a school in Gepik program.I m having alot of trouble getting my overtime after school pay.At this point, they owe me over 2 million. The schools reasoning , is that some of the kids still havent paid therefore , I hav to wait.
Anyone else having similar problems????

You should stop working the afterschool thingy until you get your money.

yeah, GEPIK pulls stuff like that all the time. They love this excuse:

"There isn't enough money in the budget to pay you the 20,000/hour in your contract. We can only pay you 10,000/hour."

Then they give you some sob story about how they are strapped for cash and they are going WAAAAY out of their way for the 10,000 / hour.

It's your individual school that's doing that, they get money upfront for you for the whole year. Sounds like they already spent it... Very Happy

it wouldnt surprise me if they already spent it.
This place has no air con , and thats all they ever talk about is budget.
Whenever I presented an idea for the summer camps , if it envolved spending money , I got the sad story of the low budget

Thats about 3 months of after school classes.

STOP teaching OT!

Check your contract. My contract is GEPIK and says that during summer vacation, they can only ask me to teach 20 hrs. So first, DO NOT TEACH MORE THAN 20 HRS! That means for all of summer vacation, you do no overtime and get paid no overtime. THIS IS YOUR EXCUSE AS TO WHY YOU'RE NOT DOING ANY OVERTIME WHATSOEVER!

Second, tell them you need the money owed to you. NOW.

Third, contact that guy that keeps spamming us with email from the office. If he can't help, go higher. If they still can't help, go to Labor.

That is B.S. The school gets the money UPFRONT from the government. Sounds like they've spent it. Tell them you are going to the labour board...too bad if they don't have the money...that is NOT YOUR problem.

My VP tried to pull this crap, though I hadn't allowed it to run quite so high as 2m.

I emailed Wenise Kim (when she was looking after us foreigners) and gave her a phone call to tell her to pick my mail up as soon as it arrives (she gets a lot, so it may have taken a few days to get a reply).

After the mail and the phonecall she called my school and raised hell. The next day my co-teacher had to go to a meeting to sort the crap out, and on the 3rd day I was informed that I would get what I was owed.

Your school may hate you for making them look bad (I made my VP look terrible), but you are leaving anyway, so what do you care Smile

They probably spent the money on remodeling the school, or the principle is lining his pockets. Twisted Evil
