I'm looking for a phone with wi-fi and some PDA functions.

The best I could find is this:

Samsung SCH-M620 (Blackjack)

Anybody have any thoughts on this phone? [/url]

Blackjack? I hope it was well engineered otherwise Samsung risk getting a reputation for making phones that "go bust after 21 days of use".

I don't know about your Samsung phone, but I've had one since 2002 and have never had a problem.

It was a joke. Blackjack, more than 21 days, go bust? Right over your head, right?

Hey,

It is a great phone. Fits tight in the hand and is surprisingly small/thin. I dislike the screen size. The qwerty keyboard is very easy to use.

The direct competition to this model is the Nokia E61i. They are similar in price. I prefer the Nokia as it runs Nokia software and the Samsung Microsoft mobile (which is just shi.t).

The Blackjack has wifi etc etc. MicroSD slot (up to 2gigs, I think).

What else do you want to know?

Depends on the city eh? Singapore has blanketed much of the place with free wifi. I find it extremely convenient to be able to get to the net whenever I want.

I never used wifi in Korea, so I can't say. But I'd assume that there are ooooodles and ooooodles of unsecured connections.

your right. if you sit on the bus and open the laptop you can see the network list grow and grow. At one time there were about 50.

They don't sell the Nokia phone in Korea, so how can there be any 'competition'? This is a message board for those living in Korea. I don't understand why you're talking about a phone we simply can't get here.

Concerning the Blackjack, what are the multimedia features like? Is it easy to load and watch videos??

Also, does the wi-fi/internet browser work well?

I didn't know you couldn't get the Nokia there.

Yes, the phones multimedia features work very well. As I said, I dislike Microsoft mobile, but it works very well in spite. Videos and music load quickly from the microsd slot on the side of the phone.

The browser works well enough. Of course, it depends greatly on the connection you are using but I find it to be decently fast and quite stable.

What I like best about the phone is that it has all the media/pda features as the Nokia and Palm Treo (can you get the Treo in Korea?) but is significantly smaller than both. The Blackjack is very thin. Though, the screen could be bigger.

If you have only Samsung, LG and such in Korea I would get the Blackjack. If you can get the Palm Treo, and it isn't too much more expensive, that would be your best bet.

Wait, you're not in Korea but you still post on this board?

I guess that's okay, but man, sad.

Hmm.. What is more sad? Leaving Korea and getting real job BUT still posting on this site OR actually staying in Korea as a hawkon cowboy and posting on this site? I know which I'd rather be. Me.

Don't be too upset. You'll be able to leave at the end of your contract. Now do you want to know about the phone or not?
