Just noticed that Korea will be hosting the U-17 World Cup from 18 August through 9 September. It might be of interest to expats, with the United States, England, and New Zealand all participating. The host venues are Suwon, Jeju, Ulsan, Goyang City, Gwangyang, Changwon, and Cheonan.

Anyone going, or interested in going? I'll arrive in Korea on 19 August and plan on making an effort to see South Korea vs. Costa Rica on 21 August and France vs. Japan on 25 August.

Group A
Korea Republic, Costa Rica, Togo, Peru

Group B
Brazil, Korea DPR, England, New Zealand

Group E
United States, Belgium, Tunisia, Tajikistan

The South Korean public will get behind NK. Wow, thats a nice wee group for South Korea. Though I have to say that team is one of the weaker u17s Korea produced in recent years and they had a pretty miserable Asian u16 Championship.

New Zealand is stuffed but that wouldve been the case even if they had changed places with South Korea. We (USA) should make the second round. I should be back in the country by the start of the tournament.

2,500 won or 18,000 for every game in the group. Not too steep

Don't write the Kiwis off just yet. Sooner or later they will knock off some team (hopefully the poms), who were too full of themselves (usually the yanks) and will be having the last laugh. Permanent underdog status is all the ammunition needed along with self belief and some tactical ability and an upset is quite possible.
