Wow how easy it was. Went in I converted my Ontario (Canada) license and within a few minutes I recieved a Korean one.
I did not have to write any test or nothing. I was putting this off for a long time because I heard you had to write tests and what not.
But my wife phoned today and they said I can get one right away. The best part is, it does not expire until 2016. Now just to get the courage to drive my new car. Not looking forward to the traffic.

Congratulations!

And yes, finding your courage is the key factor to driving here.

Learn to gracefully accept that wave-of-the-hand-while-bowing that indicates the driver just did something monumentally stupid and not react. Remember: Driving is NOT a contact sport.

Did you have to give up your Ontario license? Is the Korean one recognized in Canada (ie if you visit your family or whatever, can you drive with it?)?

I did the same thing with my US license in 2000. I have to renew next year. Did not have to take test and have both US and Korean DL. I got a good insurance deal through AIG. Call David at 010-9704-1731. He speaks fluent English.

They keep your drivers license and when you go oversea's you just exchange them so you have your old one. When you come back just exchange them again. This is what I was told.

Where did you get your drivers license at ? I am moving to Suwon tommorro, and is there a place there where I can get mine ? I have a US license.

I did mine near Worldcup stadium. There are a few other places around Seoul as well. I will ask my wife if there is one down there.
