| I have a lot of great students( university Freshmen ), but also have a couple of " hair-splitter's " who have difficulty accepting the differences between proverbs and idioms. If there is a teacher on the board who has had a similar situation and a straightforward explanation of the differences ( these students are operating at an intermediate to upper-intermediate level ) that they can understand, please reply. Thank-you in advance. |

Sure
proverbs use stories to convey examples of wisdom
idioms are much more contemporary and and seem to use analogy to explain things much less complicated than proverbs
