LMK?
What's that mean?
Hey, I've gone to most of the museums in Seoul. Seoul's got Monet at the Seoul Museum of Art, and a big European collection at the National Museum of Contemporary Art which is beside SeMA. The National Museum of Korea, in Ichon (near Itaewon), is huge and interesting. It looks like an airport from outside. They've got all kinds of Buddhist art and early Joseon artifacts there. I'm up for going back to these, especially the Monet exhibit at SeMA.
The Seoul Arts Center in Seocho has a huge exhibit of Van Gogh, Gauguin, and others.
Message me if you're wanting to get introduced to these places. |

Are there any other places that you would really recommend seeing? I haven't been to any museums here yet ... But I do enjoy visiting them ... And am currently in the process of creating my "to see" list ... So I am interested in knowing what other people have enjoyed ...

Anyone been to the war museum, near the Yongsan military base? I've been thinking about riding over there one weekend. |

Not that 90% of the people on this board care or anything, but, as far as history goes, Gyeongju is an awesome city to see. It's in the South Eastern Part of the Country and was the Capital of the Shilla Dynasty. There's stuff everywhere in the city: old royal tombs, the Bulguksa Temple, a 1500 year old Buddhist statue on top of a really high mountain, ancient observatories, museums, and a lot of other things. I've heard that Jongju in the Western part of the country is similar, as it was the capital of the Baekje dynasty. |

Just curious Qinella, did you end up going to the Monet show in that other thread we were in? What did you think if you did? I enjoyed it. |

Been to most of the museums around Seoul at least. Stumbled on a smaller one up North East of Kyungbokgung a few weeks ago. Followed street signs to the Silk Road museum. Not bad, kind of small and you've really got to be into Central Asia / Silk Road stuff (which I am). |

Worth it- especially interesting is their section on the Korean War. Don't try to see it all in one day though becuase it's too big. I'd recommend leaving after an hour and a half and coming back another day to see the rest.
You can pack it all in one trip, but the last half hour won't be any fun and you won't remember much of anything from that time. |

There was one Monet there that had wild purple flowers in a close-up scene of a garden. It was amazing. And before anyone says something, I'll say this painting is very distinguishable from the rest. |

Sure didn't. If it's still running I might check it out.

How was the signage? I mean, are there ample explanations for the things on display? |

A couple of years ago at the Seoul Museum of History they had a really cool exhibit on early European maps of Korea. Of course, much of the focus was put on how the Sea of Japan was called the East Sea in some of them, but overall it was really fascinating. Don't know what they have going on these days:

I haven't been there in over a year, so I honestly can't remember. |
