You really should find better sources for your information. There probably are good critiques of the ACLU out there, but these guys you're quoting sure as hell aren't the ones providing them.

I think the the principles of the ACLU are enough, for me thank you.

Just as I though. No law mandating the bible...

Quote:
Law Professor Eugene Volokh noted that the Constitution states officials "'shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required ....' The option of giving an affirmation rather than oath ...[shows] the Constitution thus already expressly authorizes people not to swear at all, but to affirm, without reference to God or to a sacred work. Atheists and agnostics are thus protected, as well as members of certain Christian groups [such as Quakers]. Why would Muslims and others not be equally protected from having to perform a religious ritual that expressly invokes a religion in which they do not believe?"[19] Volokh's point here is furthered by the fact that then Rep.-elect Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii), who is a Buddhist, announced that she would use the affirmation option and "has no plans to use any religious text in the swearing-in ceremony."[20]

It is kind of like dealing with Korean........you give them in inch, and they will take a foot.

Swearing on the Koran, in frong of the government of the United States is kind of a contradiction.

A contradiction, as in "The white cat is not white"? How so?

Such will be their humiliation in the world, and in the next world they will face an awful horror." (Koran, 5:33-34)

Nasty stuff in the Koran, to be sure. But do all Muslims take that as an injuntion to inflict harm on Jews and Christians everywhere? If so, you might want to be worried about this guy, who I'm sure has access to some pretty top-level stuff...

Zalmay Khalilzad (Pashto/Persian: زلمی خلیلزاد) (born: 22 March 1951) is the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. He is a member of the President's cabinet and the highest-ranking Muslim in the Administration of U.S. President George W. Bush. Khalilzad's previous assignments in the Administration include U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan and U.S. Ambassador to Iraq.

I don't know if Khalizad swore on the Koran, but I'll bet you he takes it pretty seriously as a holy book.

Can you tell me about the case about Oliver Christensen (who was 17) and the gal he was dating Lacey Dixon (who fourteen)?

(San Juan Islands village, Wahington State)

Can you tell me about how the ACLU, who ignored the crime against Oliver Christensen, formed a campaign to free him based on the theory that Carmon Dixon (the mother of Lacey Dixon) "violated" her daughters' privacy by listening to her phone conversation?

Douglas Kunder, the lead ACLU attorney was quoted "I don't hink thte state should be in a the position of encouraging parents to act surreptitiously and eavesdrop on their children".

(By the way, Oliver Christensen was convicted by a jury of a supested crime, of second-degree robbery and sented to a two years in state prison. Lacey Dixon, was dating this boy, and her mother knew this. Knowing as a troublemaker in the town, Carmon had a good idea that he may had been involved in the crime....which is why she decided to listening in on a concersation between him and her daugher on the phone, while he bragged about it).

The conviction was overturned, thanks to the ACLU and the liveral and secular Washington Supreme Court....................The ruled that "the fourteen year olds privacy had, indeed, been violated and her mother had no legal right to the information she gleaned from her daugher's conversation with the assailant".

Again, the ACLU ignored the crime.

Support for the GOP collapses among the youth (18-31)

The total Democratic advantage (youth identifying themselves as Democrat or Independents leaning Democrat vs Republican or Independents leaning Republican) is +19. Among males it is +8 and females +28. Among whites the Republicans lead by +2, but among Hispanics and Blacks, Democrats lead +42 and +76!! respectively. As with most surveys like this one, Asians are not dignified with any questions.

The most important issue tends to be the economy and the particular economic hardships young people in America today undergo. Interestingly enough, most young people are in favor of globalization, but are overwhelmingly in favor, by a +40 margin, of bigger government over a smaller government.

On every issue except the gun issue, the youth see the Democrats as doing a better job than the Republicans by at least a margin of +10. Democrats are said to be paying better attention to 'issues that affect younger people' by a +39 margin. Democrats are said to be doing better on terrorism by a +21 margin.

Can't help but think that this would be of more concern to the GOP if anyone between the ages of 18 and 30 actually voted. This isn't advertising; it's not about disposable income. no one's going to give a rat's ass about America's youth until they start hitting the ballot box as a bloc. If you need proof of this, witness that all of us young'uns continue to pay into the broken Social Security system because legislators are scared of the AARP and know that no one under 30 is even paying attention.
