I'm already getting itchy feet after being in New Zealand for six months. I need a destination in the Asia-Pacific region for a 3-4 week vacation likely sometime around june-july '08 once I've saved my pennies and have vacation time.
So far I've hit and thus are reluctant to re-visit - Australia, Japan, Thailand, Phillipines, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Singapore and South Africa.
Likely choices are:
USA - Haven't been there since I was a little kid and have people I want to visit. Has most expensive airfares and costs.
China - Airfares and costs are cheap. Should visit but am feeling 'asia-ed out' after four years in Korea
India - Airfares and costs are cheap. Never been to South Asia.
South Amercia, Chile and Peru. I've never been to South America but for some bizzare reason I want to visit Chile and then Machu Picchu. However I don't speak any spanish worried about safety. |

Nepal was one of my all time favorite vacations. Things have calmed down there, so it might be worth a visit.
GREAT food, extremely low prices. The national parks are great - the temples magnificent.
Kathmandu itself is great fun to just walk around. Bought a huge beautiful handmade carpet there for maybe US$60. Still have it almost ten years later and it will last forever.
Cheap flight from Bangkok to there. |
