|
|
Hi all,
I need to change my international driving licence for a Korean one. New Zealand doesn't have a reciprocal arrangement with Korea (I guess they're wise not to unleash hordes of Korean-trained drivers on the unsuspecting NZ public!) so I have to do the theory test. Does anyone know if the Kyobo bookstore in downtown Seoul would have it?
Can someone tell me where I can get a copy of the road rules in English?
I tried to do a search, but the search function on this board is fricken useless: "You cannot make another search so soon after your last; please try again in a short while." Nice going, Dave.
Thanks in advance |

| Just go down to the driver's licensing office and ask for one in English. That's how I got mine last Monday. The plus is that the thing is free. |

| I'm very sure it's free. The lady at the counter asked me which language and how many copies I needed. |

Ah well, I just got back from the Mapo licencing office and the person at the foreign counter insisted that there were no rule books in English. They were probably too lazy to get of their arse and go look for it.
It makes you wonder why they have a foreign counter. What a god-damn waste of time... another wild goose chase in the Land That Competence Forgot.
Can anyone hook me up with a copy that they don't need anymore? Maybe I can treat you to lunch or something? PM me if you can help. Thanks. |

I found this part of the manual to be a bit enlightening.
From:
Chapter 2, Safe Driving
Section 1, Basic Driving Rules and Right of Way
2. Traffic Right of War or Traffic Priority
- 1. Emergency vehicles
- 2. Vehicles other than emergency vehicles
- 3. Motorized bicycles
- 4. Cars and vehicles other than automobiles and motorized bicycles.

KNP Standard Manual pg. 5
>TIP! Those who should not drive a car <
- A blind person
(Just a tip mind you, so if you are blind knock yourself out.) |

| Thanks shetan, some good links there. I've been told that the English test is mostly common sense. Ironic considering the lack of it amongst much of the driving population here... |
