Oh, The Conservative didn't actually give a Web site in his reference to a Web site. In case anybody is wondering, here is what he represented as a New York Times expose.
I never called THAT a "New York Times expose" I said they have run exposes on such practises. Nice misrepresentation of what I said. For the kinds of exposes I was talking about see this link.
http://www.amazon.com/Slaughterhouse-Shocking-Inhuman-Treatment-Industy/dp/1573921661
It talks about the author whose work was responsible for exposes by ABC Good Morning America, Prime Time Live and Dateline NBC. In addition her work has been published in the New York Times (there they are again), the Miami Herald, Los Angeles Times, US News&World Report, and others.

Lying about your lying is real classy. This is what you wrote.

And the New York Times disagrees with you. This is a site which took its information (regarding slaughterhouses....scroll down to the heading slaughterhouses) from the NYT.

About the book
What started out, with a single complaint about a Florida slaughterhouse turned into a tale of intrigue and suspense as investigator Gail A. Eisnitz unearthed more startling information about the meat and poultry Americans consume. This shocking story follows Eisnitz as she becomes submerged in a slaughterhouse subculture, venturing deeper and deeper into the lives of the workers. As the stakes become higher in her David-and-Goliath-type battle, this determined young woman finds herself courageously taking on one of America's most powerful industries. Slaughterhouse takes readers on a frightening but true journey from one slaughterhouse to another throughout the country. Along the way we encounter example after example of mistreated animals...intolerable working conditions...lax standards...the slow, painful deaths of children killed as a result of eating contaminated meat...the author's battle with the major television networks...and a dangerously corrupt federal agency that chooses to do nothing rather than risk the wrath of agribusiness...before the whole affair is blown wide open in this powerful expose. In an effort to understand how such rampant violations could occur right under the noses of U. S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) inspectors - the individuals charged with enforcing humane regulations in slaughterhouses - Eisnitz examines the inspectors' track record for enforcing meat and poultry safety regulations, their primary responsibility. Following a long paper trail, she learns that contaminated meat and poultry are pouring out of federally inspected slaughterhouses and, not surprisingly, deaths from foodborne illness have quadrupled in the United States in the last fifteen years. Determined to tell the whole story, Eisnitz then examines the physical price paid by employees working in one of America's most dangerous industries. In addition to suffering disfiguring injuries and crippling repetitive motion disorders, employees describe tyrannical working conditions in which grievances are met with severe reprisals or dismissals.

No, lying is not classy...so stop it please. You said that I was representing this ad as an expose. Except I made no such claim. Anybody can simply look up my original post and see that.
You got caught in your own falsehood and now are running away. Bottom line. Don't call people liars without being willing to back it up. That's what trolls do.
Further posts from you will be met with a request to show where I said that this ad was an expose. |

Regardless of who said what about the NYT, the book by Gail Eisnitz is well worth reading. Still, I feel that it would be a mistake to dwell excessively on the details of how certain animals are slaughtered ... as if any form of slaughter could ever be "humane," no matter who is killing them or what species the victims belong to.
Big_Bird just started a thread on Current Events that addresses what I consider the central issue here. I haven't posted a response yet, but I will when I have a minute (hopefully tomorrow):

Completely irrelevant.
The OP was sincerely asking where he or she can can go to sit down and dine on Fido. If you have nothing to offer on that, or are not interested in helping someone who is asking for help, then go start your own thread about radical animal rights polemics, and be sure to enlighten us along the way about how groups like the ELF make the world better by setting off bombs in labs that are looking for cures to painful and life-threatening diseases, and then the harassing people who work in them with threatening phone calls late at night - oh, and why not also enlighten us all with your views that some entire species would be better off extinct rather than enclosed and protected by people who think it's important that some species survive the onslaught humanity produces on the environment?
Your agenda sickens me, as does your fanaticism. |

I'll post something in the other thread when I have more time. (I don't really care if it sickens you or not, Bobster. It's obvious you were pretty sick to begin with.)
It's funny how posters with legitimate questions about work, contracts, taxes, pension, housing, etc., usually get admonished for starting "redundant threads" instead of doing a search. The redundant threads about living and working in Korea are then locked. Yet these dog threads never end, even though everyone always brings up the same points over and over again.
Otis, BigBill, whatever your name is now ... are you a mod? Come on, you can tell us. |

When is the last time (or ANY time) you ever said a positive and kind word about a human being, living or dead? I think it never happened, balgan kae. Everything you are about is insults, denigrating people around you, and promoting an agenda that leads to human pain and early and unnecessary mortality. Those of us who are ABLE to love do not want to live in the kind of world that you wish was around us all, and that's because we can easily imagine how wierd and twisted that world would be, which is far MORE wierd and twisted than the way things already are.
And you call me sick. Thank you for making me laugh.I like to laugh - and you, lady, are pure comedy.
Feh. I bite my thumb at you, and not in jest.
To the OP, or anyone else interested : Summer is when the canine is consumed in a popular manner, and there's a good place not far from my house. pm me and maybe I'll take you around. |

LOL. Seriously, the book Slaughterhouse is a good (but really upsetting) read; the author documents a lot of cruel acts that seem almost unbelievable even to people who (mostly) know what's going on. I just really disagree with the point I think The Conservative is using it to make.
