|
|
Hi Everyone,
I have recently been offered a job position in central busan in a public school with EPIK. The starting salary is 1.8 million won as I have no experience or certificates etc.
I am just wondering is this the going starting salary for someone with no experience, or is it 2,0 million won and I am being sold short?
Regards,
Michael |

Actually I think 1.8 is pretty low. EPIK pays a little higher than gepik. I have the actual EPIK application somewhere along with the payscale. I'm sure its 2.1 with no experience. That was what I was originally offered but I told them I was in the process of getting a TESOL and they bumped me up to 2.2. |

I think you will regret working for EPIK for only 1.8mil won. Try your best to get at least 2.0 mil won.

Signed up a few weeks back for 2.3M (TESOL holder though no experience) and 28-days holiday , which was significantly better than previous offers. However, on the flip, and having read this post and followed the accompanying links, I've just found out that the 10-day orientation is unpaid , but I'm not complaining.
1.8M does seem a little low. I was under the impression that 2.0M was the starting point. |

Wow so glad I'm not with either of them. 5.5 million won and work 8 hours a day. My holidays are only 20 days tho. |

Why don't you pick up a certificate before you start?
It will notch you up a pay raise and pay itself off, and think about it, what do know about teaching English? Are you prepared to walk into a class of 40 kids who can't or won't speak even basic sentences and teach a lesson? And I say this as someone who started in this field without a clue myself. |

You should be able to get 100,000 for a rural area and 100,000 for being in a special area for a total of 2 million. |

Would you get that for central Busan? I work out in the sticks and get that extra 200 000.

※County area Bonus is paid to the one who work in Eub, Myon(County) or in plural number of schools |
Oops my mistake, plural number of schools (>2).
1.8 does seem a little low. In Chungnam they pay 2.2 basic (no quals that's including the extra 200 000). I have a tefl so get 2.4 (first job as well) |
