I understand, but I'm sure there are others who have no idea what "bucks" means. BTW- What are kids gonna do with Canadian money? |
people who post on this board wouldn't know what "bucks" means? if someone posted that 65 quid or 65 (million) pesos had been stolen from their desk i think i could figure it out.
and plus in my op i explained the breakdown of the currency.
i really don't think that people are as dumb as you think they are. |

So he had 30 some deer in his desk drawer. You'd have to be pretty stupid, drunk or stoned to think that. |

65 clams.
That's a fair whack to have been taken.
I sometimes make the mistake of not securing something and getting it ripped-off. But, not good when kids take that and never give it back.
Please make sure you update and let us know if they do.
It's big coin.
A Korean teacher once had one spot in her drawer and had that taken and never had it returned. Even the kid later admitted it and the parents found out, she never got it back. Know what I mean? Nasty stuff, or some deal went on.
one spot = 100 dollars |

I don't carry a wallet, as they are bad for your back to sit on, and I don't like to have to carry it around in my hand.
It's too bad when you can't keep money safe, especially in a school where there were bound to be other kids who saw the theft.
One of those character/integrity things that Korea in general seems to have trouble with. |

Front pocket?
Still, to the OP, kids steal. This is a pretty normal part of life. You can't just hope they won't. It sucks, but always assume they will. |

Um, you must be in your early 20's. Thieves are everywhere in every country in every color. |

1. Putting a wallet in your front pocket makes you look like a dork.
2. It's not the act of thievery that Koreans struggle with, it's what the consequences are when a child is caught stealing or cheating that is the problem. |

People say the same to wearing a backpack on both instead of one shoulder. Tell you what though, even if some people think it looks dorky, who cares what they think? If they would rather screw up their back and shoulders and have a better chance of losing their wallet by conforming to society's ideas (if they are society's) of how they should look, all the power to them. |

I take a lot for granted. I've kept money, my phone, my digital camera, CDs, cigarettes, candy, and all manner of desireable trinkets on or in my desk and in two years at my school nothing's ever gone missing. I wouldn't even think of dong that at a university, much less a school, in the West. |

My co-workers always thought me paranoid at my first and second school, because I locked up all valuables and kept the key in my pocket at all times. But I never had anything stolen, wheras it did happen to a about a half dozen teachers once (at a kindy hagwon, so it was probably another teacher).
Sorry to hear about it though, OP. |

A year ago, I've visited my American friend who was once my co-worker , $300 from my purse was gone inside her house, except me and my friend, there were her teenage cousin with her boyfriend ( They were visiting my friend ), there was no question the money was gone while I was sleeping, I didn't know how I have to react, I decided to keep that within myself and I've acted like it was never happened.
If that kind thing was happened on street, I probably didn't upset/angry
that much, but....I was really upset/angry for a few days
She is still remain as my good friend and I am glad I didn't make her uncomfortable with that stuff. |
