I was just curious about what some of you guys are studying. I am seriously thinking of getting into a distance program, but I'm not sure as to which direction I want to go with.

So, seeing what some you guys are doing, it may give me some ideas.

Thanks!

Posted these before, but here we are again:

For a few distance programs that offer accredited master's degrees and even Ph.D.'s with little or no residency, try looking through these two places to start:

http://bain4weeks.com/mastermenu.html

I am currently taking a Ph.D. course via distance from Northcentral University. They have a lot of different specializations and course in Education, Business, and Psychology...try www.ncu.edu

I am currently studying for an MSc in Education for Sustainability with London South Bank University.

The course basically combines the sociology and philosophy of education with the politics of international development.

It is an extremely enjoyable course which I would recommend. I am hoping to work in the education field of international development and to do research and/or doctorate down the line.

Why take a distance MA program, when you can attend an MA program in Korea?

Framingham State College gives American ESL courses with American professors at Korea University:

Next enrollment is for February with orientation this September. You can work and live and teach in Korea while attending MA ESL classes in Korea while getting a MA from an American college.

On a very recent trip home to NZ I enrolled at my old uni to start an MATESOL. I will be studying by distance, a bit of a worry because I am a famously lazy slacker. The main reason I chose to continue studying at Victoria University of Wellington is the fact that I know most of the faculty and some of them know me; this way, I figure, I will be forced into working because I will care what kind of reception my work will get, because I will be able to see the professors' faces, in my mind's eye, as they evaluate my work. The fact that some of the faculty at VUW's school of linguistics and applied language studies are world class movers and shakers in ESL/EFL is a happy secondary consideration.

Thanks guys....................good stuff.

I do have a couple of concerns, which I've run into in the past. The first, being that the ones I have looked into require the student to be a residing in the country where the school is at. Second............I have a B.S. and I have heard that obtaining an M.A. is quite is quite difficult..............

Any info on that?'

By the way, some of guys are really taking some interesting stuff!

Cheers.

http://www.une.edu.au/lcl/maal/index.php

I'm doing the (Australian) University of New England's MA in Applied Linguistics program, and so far I've been very satified with the materials, the delivery, the content, and most other aspects of the courses I've taken. There have been a couple of rough spots, as you'd expect in any course of study, but I'd recommend checking it out. There's also a good support network of fellow MAALers in Korea, so despite the Internet-based medium, it's possible to connect with people locally.

I'll be starting my MSc in Financial Economics in January from University of London in the UK. It's ideal for me since I'll be working full time too.

I'm just about to enroll on an MSc in Environmental Decision Making through the Open University. I'm actually looking forward to this more than moving to Korea.

Can anyone who's studying, or who has studied at a Masters level, in a paragraph or two, outline the main differences between studying as a post graduate as opposed to an under graduate?
