China really exceeded my expectations.

The Netherlands was also fantastis!

Mexico was great as well (although I was only in Acapulco, so that's not really Mexico).

I'd have to say Israel. For all the frustrations of travelling through the Middle East, Israel is just a powerful place. It doesn't matter what your religion is .... or if you're an atheist. There is an intensity there. Also ... the food and landscapes, history, women, the Mediterranean and Dead Sea. Dahab in Egypt is also amazing.

Costa Rica is also tre cool.

Singapore. Although I haven't been to too many places, Singapore was the only one where I actually felt like I could settle down, live, and really enjoy myself. I'd stay just for the variety of food available.

Tough choice...

My favorite was probably Brazil because of the weather and the passion of the place. Not to mention the women!

Honorable mentions go to:

*Greece (family reasons)
*Italy for the history, food and culture
*UK for the vibe
*Japan because was just really neat
*HK, which was the most beautiful city I ever visited (HK will never be China to me)
I have to agree with you about Hong Kong. Amazing architecture. I guess no Koreans designed buildings there...hahaha Istanbul is pretty darn amazing, too. Japan rocks and so does Thailand.

I loved Eastern Europe, all of it. The scenery is absolutely stunning, the cities both large and small are all scenes taken from postcards. The history, the mystique, the nooks and crannies... There's a mystery behind every door, lore heard in every pub. You don't just visit, you experience it, you live it.

VIETNAM was awesome. I fell in love with Hoi An and I've rearranged my scheduled so I can travel and stay in Vietnam for a month this fall. Love it!

I wind up loving all of the places that I go but 2 are tied for my favorite.

The one that sticks in my most is Estonia. It is a beautiful country with wonderful, friendly people. There a few big cities where there are many cool things that most people like to do. Also there many smaller villages. That is where I stay when I visit cause I enjoy that kind of life.

The one that I return to most is Netherlands. I live in Amsterdam when here but many beautiful and historic places are easily reached from here. The countryside is nice and great for biking.

I also love island-hopping in the Philippines. A lot of talented musicians as well as gorgeous beaches in that country.

I'm jumping on the bandwagon here. My goal is to find a job there following grad school.
