Korea was in the top 10 but now they are being pressed
by MEXICO! I was in Mexico last month and it is booming. No dollar Coronas anymore. I think Korea will stay around 14, 15, or 16 in the future.

Koreas heyday is over, they peaked already. Chinas taking their markets left and right.
perhaps now koreans realise they can't possibly be No.1, they'll relax and calm down a bit now. The national psyche may yet change for the better. Accept their place in the world, and all that. |

Can't tell me India, China, Brazil and Mexico have a hire standard of living than Korea or Australia...
Hope Koreans stop concentrating on being hire on some list and concentrate on real stuff. |

That's not what the list shows. It is refering to the total amount of 'product' in each country. Therefore, it is not surprising that a country with a large population, such as China, would be ahead of Korea. However, if you divide the total by the population of the country, you will have a closer idea of the 'standard of living', though of course not everything is about money anyway. |

Close, but Canada's population is only 30 million. Korea is almost 50 million. |

Lots of things:
The EU, highly educated population, speaks English, low wages, cheap land (well not anymore), first hunk of land you encounter from North America, tax cuts, government brought in foreign investment, North American companies looking for a cheap english speaking country to get a foothold in the EU economy, Irish started doing a lot of the grunt work like phone support and software internationalization for the EU. All 'n' all Ireland got the jump on the global economy and North American companies looking to outsource off shore before everyone else.
Yeah Korea has fell because the BRIC economies (well, the RIB economies) have moved up.
