Is it illegal to speak about negative incidents such as hostile xenophobia and hagwon scams without mentioning names of people and businesses? Everyone needs to vent and talk to come to grips of a better understanding now and then. I know there are libel laws so you shouldn't mention names which I would avoid doing so unless you're out of the country for good and have a valid reason to blacklist a school or other business who really is bad news. Just as in any other country, most people are good, but a few will color you bad; often over issues unrelated to you.
I noticed that when truths are spoken, it is stamped out such as pulling threads off of websites. Posters such as myself and others discussing about negative hostilities experienced recently in public places on Daves were reported to the Seoul police recently as if this were communist country. People have been treating me unusually bad in subways and market places recently which is shocking and unusual to me, because I did nothing to deserve this kind of treatment and came to respect Korea greatly and expected respect in return. I won't elaborate on how bad I was treated in public many times recently since it is not acceptable to post the details of negative issues and definitely not in any kind of defamatory manner. A thread I wrote detailing a few horrific experiences I recently had in subways and markets was pulled, while not defamatory, it was harsh truth, because I felt fear, intimidation, and got frustrated over being approached with hostility on several occasions recently. I believe all this bad behavior recently is tied to spreading sentiments of the hostile megaphone theft a foreign teacher committed about 2 weeks ago. If I were not true with integrity to the contract I committed to with my employer, I would had taken a flight out recently. This is very unfortunate.
When I wrote a post a few days ago detailing hostilities directed at me from strangers, I just wanted to vent and to better understand if I was the only one having a bad run or if many other expats were experiencing an unusually high level of negative reaction recently. I am very sure there was nothing I was doing to initiate these bad behaviors directed at me. In fact, most times I had music in my ears and was walking places. My apologies if my posts trashed Korea as I don't mean to do that, but I am very frustrated, frightened, and angry over being hated on allot recently. This greatly concerns me on the future of the relationships the world has with Korea. Please understand that all countries of the world have mostly good people, but have a few hateful people or people mad at everyone of similar physical appearance of someone who did something bad such as the hostile megaphone theft incident 2 weeks ago. I don't know this guy nor am I related to that incident nor would I act like that, but to go around hating on me in a hostile manner in subways and markets for his actions is terribly unfortunate.
Please understand that only a small minority of foreign teachers and US armed forces are bad people or do bad things, while the majority live with integrity, honesty, and respect to do a job here in the most harmonious manner possible to the best of their abilities, but treating a good person badly in public only makes them think and speak bad things which is no good for anyone. Go catch the megaphone thief and get over it and lets move on. |

You have to understand, Dave's is big business. There is a lot of money generated by the advertisements on this site.
This is no nonprofit
If the moderators see something on their site that may interfere with their business model, they're gonna yank it. Your freedom of speech isn't a big concern.
It's sorta like...freedom of speech-lite. |

You can post it, just be subtle about it......post the details but leave out the names of the people and businesses involved and if people are really inquisitive to know, they can always PM you to get further details.
Besides, there are not only people who post here looking at the threads, there are countless number of spectators/ companies that monitor this site for things being said, both positive and negative.
Besides, most people are educated and can kinda get the whole picture without having to say the names of the people or places involved; some people have been in the same situation at the same place sometimes with the same people and kinda' know whats going on. |

About the police snitch board, I have a feeling someone who registers here a lot has been using it. I sent the police an e-mail telling them their site is just a bad idea and that they should not investigate fraudulent complaints. |

The people who have been posting bogus information are really doing the foreigners living in Korea a disservice.
Every time a foreigner posts some lies on this site, the whole foreign community suffers. It's no wonder many Koreans look down on us. |

I'll wager you it's also the Korean advertisers who complain about negative threads about Korea.
Very sad. I've seen some good discussions recently pulled down just because they discussed negative topics like xenophobia in Korea. Real people discussing real problems without flaming or getting nasty. Yep. too bad. |

There's a big difference between someone making a joke post about spotting a bearded man, and someone accusing you of being a drug addict. |
