This is my first major post since my retirement...
I have kept an eye on the board and I am starting to see a small but developing pattern arising from it.
Back in 2005, Korea started cracking down on E2 visa applications by making sealed transcripts necessary for getting the visa. Then they did the teacher audit and shaved a good portion of the teachers from the country. Then they are opening an office within the KNP to verify people's qulaifications.
As these quality control procedures started taking shape, did the conditions actually improve for people working in Korea? Or do employers start thinking in the rational like "If you don't want to work here, there are thousands of applicants willing and dying to take your place.."
I remember a time where apologists outnumbered the bashers to a huge extent. But now, I see a more negative picture developing out of Korea in regards to the work conditions there.
Are things steadily getting worse there and they ultimately want to get rid of all teachers from Korea? Are the promised outcome of the crackdowns and supposedly improved procedures starting to mean more opportunity and more money as all the "ill-qualified" start to exit the ESL scene there? |
