| -Not to be nasty, but I remember when I closed restaurants the young white waitresses all had black boyfriends, because they were all addicted to drugs. In my area, rich men can have black women, but black men seem to only have really skanky, dope-smoking white girls. I think this is really bad, and as someone who is an "equal-opportunity-employer" if you know what I mean, I feel sorry for any nice girl in Delaware with a black boyfriend, just because of the stereotype. She'd going to be considered a 'ho |

That is a definitely a fine looking photo. I tend to like black women who look biracial i.e. half and half. I somehow like them the most or Ethiopians who tend to have Caucasian ancestry mixed in because of the influence of Semites. I would add, though, Senegal has some of the prettiest women, I believe. I like the idea of other African and Carribbean and Guyana if they can generally add something more positive on top of the African American element which needs some new blood, new ideas, opening up, and more uplifting ideas etc... |

I always wonder about that. Just because you are mixed doesn't make you light. And just because you aren't mixed doesn't make you dark. Hell being mixed guarantees nothing. Here's a test. Here's a picture of two women. You tell me which one is biracial....
A.
B.

I was hoping you'd pull out Jessie Spano. |

I KNOW THE ANSWER! (So I take it you are an ANTM fan?)
She sure doesn't know how to hang with 50 though.
Anyway, Tyra Banks is NOT biracial- not in any meaningful way anyway. Both her parents are black. She's just a light skinned black woman with enough issues to fill a dump truck. |

| I have trouble believing that this sort of thing is even a concern in the 21st century. |

Not a fan exactly. Just happened to remember that bit from the show. And you are certainly correct. Tyra Banks is not biracial. Just light. That's why I bought up that bit of trivia with the pictures....

You'd be surprised. Like I pointed out earlier, there are more Black women than Black men in the U.S. so this issue has cropped up. Perhaps if the numbers were more balanced, this would never be an issue. Just not enough "brothers" to go around, so African American women have to face their deep seated issues and de-program themselves about race and color ("Oh! He's too dark" or "I don't want dark babies"...A whole other issue) and head into the 21st century... |

Well, this Byzantine Empire had a mixture of various tribes. That was many centuries ago. Did that produce a world of utopia? Nope, it didn't.
Anyway, the 21st century is not really better than the 20th in many ways.
The richer are getting richer and the poorer are getting poorer and that might be worse than racism. At least, even with racism you are still eating, alive or what have you.... Just a thought there.. Also, in the 21st century, many of the schools in the US are as segregated as they ever were. Many schools only have a 5% white population. The races aren't really integrating with each other so much as they should.
As far as Tyra Banks, she is still mixed. 80% of African Americans have a lot of Caucasian genes. African Americans have been in the United States for 200+ years and many mixed with Irish people especially during the days when the Irish were heavily discriminated against, then there were the relationships and rapes with the slave masters, marriages with poor whites in the South etc... Many Ethiopians have that kind of complexion because they are heavily Semitic and often have a Semitic look with a black complexion. |
