KBS published a useful article in Korean on fan death. They ran some tests and concluded that sleeping with a fan on is actually beneficial. Judging by the comments some people will never be convinced. This one's going in my bookmarks.

But notice, the window is open. I can't read the article, so...
The whole thing about fan death that has confused me, is, why would you keep the windows closed if you need the fan?
Has anyone actually slept with a fan on and ALL the windows closed?
When I enter a hot room with no AC, the first thing I do is open all the windows, then put on the fan.
Why would you turn on a fan and not open the window?

Have you ever done it? slept with a fan on and ALL the windows closed?
Hot overpowers fear of getting bit by mosquitos, or noise..pollution? that's laughable.

The image is not directly connected with the article. It's just part of the stock footage of the news broadcast. Whoever that guy is, he obviously believes in fan death.

I always sleep with my fan on and the windows closed. I close my window because there's never any wind, so why bother. Also, my bedroom window isn't directly connected outside, but rather with the balcony, so it's not worth it anyway. I also have the fan directed precisely at my head.

I'm not dead yet.

Yet.

this fan death thing reminds me of the cellphone thing, do you americans and candians have the thing at home where you can't use your cellphone in a petrol station in case you blow it up?

I remember a story about a soccer mom taking her kid to the Emergency room. She opened her cellphone and made a phone call.

Three old buzzards with heart pacer problems collapsed and died right there.

Yep, apparently some people can use their cellphones to adjust the readouts (.. you know, make their petrol cheaper or something like that which robs the petrol station of it's precious money) - So, some jackass created the "Using a phone could blow up our precious station" ..

Incredible. Laughing

Proof that one man's common sense is another man's stunning revelation. Here goes, buddy: It's hot outside. In August, it's 30 or more degrees outside and the idea is to reduce room temperature so it is not like the temperature outside. An open window brings that hot air into the room, which is the very thing you're trying to defend yourself against via the use of a fan. Real head-scratcher I know. Rolling Eyes
