I am currently planning on going to Korea once I finish my Masters (graduate degree), and was wondering if by diploma, they expect you to send the fancy document that the univeristy sells you nice wooden frames contain it and to hang it on your wall.
I'm just worried that if they want my diploma, it'll be costly to mail wihtout bending or folding it, because it is at least 11x17 -- and would I get it back, or did I waste $100 buying a frame for it?
Please clarify what is necessary to send for an E-2 Visa. |

Yep, they mean the actual diploma. It used to be that you could send it off to have a certified copy made at a consulate, but I don't think that's the case anymore. |

Check into getting a duplicate copy from your university. Some will do it, some won't.... Or just say you lost it and need a new one... |

I think if you get copies certified by a Korean consulate that they will accept that. That's what I did, and it seems to be fine. |

Well, I could try and ask for a duplicate from my university.
By copies of your certificate, do you mean a photocopy that is verified by the Korean consulate, or you have to get your 2nd diploma (that you got directly fromt he univeristy) verified as well? |

Yes, I mean make a photocopy of it then get it certified by the consulate.
I had to get the copy notarized first, then the consulate took that as well as a sealed official transcript, and two dollars and fifty cents. Then they gave me back my copy, marked as certified.
If you get another diploma, then that's an original too, you can just send that without certifying it or anything. For me, the certified copy of my degree was just easier. |
