That is a definitely a fine looking photo. I tend to like black women who look biracial i.e. half and half. I somehow like them the most or Ethiopians who tend to have Caucasian ancestry mixed in because of the influence of Semites. I would add, though, Senegal has some of the prettiest women, I believe. I like the idea of other African and Carribbean and Guyana if they can generally add something more positive on top of the African American element which needs some new blood, new ideas, opening up, and more uplifting ideas etc... |
I always wonder about that. Just because you are mixed doesn't make you light. And just because you aren't mixed doesn't make you dark. Hell being mixed guarantees nothing. Here's a test. Here's a picture of two women. You tell me which one is biracial....

I am not sure which one is bi-racial. I would perhaps go with the second one, but I detect a mix in both somewhere. African Americans would generally be lighter, anyway, than Africans. They are not Africans. They are still somewhat part of the American melting pot, though far from it in many ways, still. The girl in the first picture has dyed hair, it is kind of done, so you can tell everything about her. It is easier if I see someone up close rather than just in a distant picture. I have had African American students that I asked if they had Native American blood somewhere, and I was right almost all the time. They were surprised.
Lots of African Americans do also have Native American ancestry which many people don't realize. They are more mixed than people think. |

Well, this Byzantine Empire had a mixture of various tribes. That was many centuries ago. Did that produce a world of utopia? Nope, it didn't.
Anyway, the 21st century is not really better than the 20th in many ways.
The richer are getting richer and the poorer are getting poorer and that might be worse than racism. At least, even with racism you are still eating, alive or what have you.... Just a thought there.. Also, in the 21st century, many of the schools in the US are as segregated as they ever were. Many schools only have a 5% white population. The races aren't really integrating with each other so much as they should.
As far as Tyra Banks, she is still mixed. 80% of African Americans have a lot of Caucasian genes. African Americans have been in the United States for 200+ years and many mixed with Irish people especially during the days when the Irish were heavily discriminated against, then there were the relationships and rapes with the slave masters, marriages with poor whites in the South etc... Many Ethiopians have that kind of complexion because they are heavily Semitic and often have a Semitic look with a black complexion. |
By that argument, everyone but the hemophilic Romanovs is or has been biracial. Everyone is racially mixed. What I am saying is that she is, by all accounts, a BLACK woman. Obama is biracial. Tyra banks is not biracial. If you go down the line, her whole lineage probably has a bit of white in it, but who DOESNT have another race in their lineage? I Do! TONS. But, I dont' think of myself as multi-racial, or bi-racial or whatever cause I have black and Ay-rab in my family. Its really not meaningful. Both my parents are Hispanic. I am Hispanic. End.
Tyra is not biracial and not 'mixed' by any meaningful standards.
On a side note, I do agree that Ethopians just did away with the ugly gene (and sent it over to the British!)
And JOO- What was the point of putting up her picture? Look, a model, who is black , with light skin and green eyes is pretty! I think we're all aware that Tyra Banks is attractive. What is your point? |

People are mixed PERIOD
I have Black, Irish, Scottish, with some vague rumors of Chinese heritage floating around....But I look plain old Black. Even though I remember someone commenting that I was "dark" for an African American...and since I'm not African American I thought it was sort of funny..
In any event, here are close ups of the same pictures

Oh and by the way, we aren't even 10 years into the 21st century so aren't we being a tad doom and gloom about it prematurely?

One, the Ethiopians were not ruled by the British, they were ruled by the Italians. Two, you can definitely say Ethiopians are mixed since their language is not really a purely African one especially among the Christians who speak Amharic which is related to Aramaic and Hebrew.
They are largely a mixture of Semite and African, a melting pot of both.
I am sure if you read on their history you will find that to be true and that mixture has somehow produced a lot of very good looking people.
How am I wrong if I say Tyra Banks is mixed or looks mixed? I didn't say she is bi-racial. And I don't know her family tree, but clearly she would have Caucasian ancestry somewhere to look like that. It could be a grandfather or great-grandfather. That stuff makes a difference. If someone who has Italian parents has a great-grandfather or grandfather from Germany, it could make a difference in many cases.
The whole world is mixed somehow. I thought it was funny that parts of England have a certain DNA signature in common with Lebanese people.
That is probably because Phoenicians and Celts mixed. There were probably Phoenician settlements there. Did you read about Pharaohs having traces of cocaine in their system? How did that get there?
They had to have had contact with the Americas... |

| Adventurer, you weinerhead. I was making a joke. Ethiopians are pretty and British are ugly. I wasn't even TALKING about colonization. Nor Ethiopia for that matter. |
