I drove through there and went to the mall. Pretty much all Vietnamese everyhwere in that area. Pretty cool. |

San Diegan here, and reading these responses makes me miss the diversity that is California. Does it get any better than being able to choose from eating Thai, Vietnamese, Filipino, Mexican, Italian, American, etc.?

The diversity of California is one of the many reasons I love the state. By the way, what is the name of that little Thai bbq place in Long Beach? That might be vague, but my fiancee swears by it every time she visits her relatives up there. |

Haven't heard of the Thai place, but there's a kick @$$ Brazillian BBQ buffet called "Greenfield's" located near CSU Long Beach. $30 per person for dinner but ohhh so worth it!  |

According to Wikipedia Long Beach is the most ethnically diverse city in the United States.
I could really go for some Roscoe�s chicken and waffles or some shrimp tacos from Holy Mole. Then I�d head up to the Belmont Brewing Company for happy hour and Alex�s Bar on Anaheim to watch some bands play. I miss Long Beach. |

I think OP meant to write Westminster with all it's Vietnamese plazas.
The impressive thing about Santa Ana is it's huge Mexican community. That place is like Mexican candyland. Talk about Lucas powders and tamarind candies. Mi gusto~ |

Westminster was impressive. I liked it.
Although outside of the OC, I recently read that Pasadena has an urban area? Does it?
There was also a place in Los Angeles county with a huge Taiwanese community...something like 60% of the people in that city were specifically from Taiwanese above anywhere else. Anyone been there? Where would that be? (I could look it up, but would take awhile).
Where else do people like in the OC/LA area? Particularly with heavy Asian influences...? |

I think you're talking about Rowland Heights, Hacienda Heights, and the City of Industry. Lots of Taiwanese plazas around there. For Hong Kong and Cantonese areas, try Monterey Park and Alhambra. |

I think Old Town Pasadena just another hip groovy area, much like 3rd Street Promenade, but there are at least a couple colleges nearby like CalPoly or PCC, so you can imagine all the college kids hanging around.

Monterey Park is mostly suited for Cantonese speakers. As you know, Chinese and Vietnamese are not the same. If you want Chinese products and services, best to go to the Chinese areas. Vietnamese products and services, it's Westminster.
Korean places - it's K-Town, Gardena, and Garden Grove. I find Korean areas to be a bit run down and not as nice-looking.. though a new Korean plaza is currently being built in Garden Grove. So far it looks nice. |

or u grew up around vietnamese?
yeah, ktown in LA is pretty ghetto, a lot of el salvadoreans that live in ktown, altho there are a grip of high rises being built there.
usually koreans move out of ktown into other cities once they can afford to. |
