there should be laws enacted against netizens who type one-word messages and then post them again and again (so they can say "look, i've made my 3000th post!!---oh, joy...)...what a waste of MY @#$damn bandwidth...

mack,

Well, post count padding is fruitless and goofy. But I guess some folks get a kick out of seeing X number under their name. Many boards have their own forum dwellers who delight in that practice. Oh well.

Since you said that CM, I am on my way to start a thread and I'm going to name it "Increase your post count here"

Avoid the Korean Music Section at all cost on Soompi. It's mostly filled with "Who do you like better? 'X' or 'Y'?", "Who has the hottest bod?", "Which gasoo is the prettiest?", and stuff like that.

I'll give you guys a little info. about some of the sections of Soompi.

General Discussion
I spend most of my time there. There is a large of range of questions asked and lots of people post. But some people ask you everything from foot size to what kind of deodorant do you use. You have to do some fishing to find more interesting topics.

Members 411
They post their pictures. People reply and say the person is cute/hot/sexy. I try not to go in there much. Vanity ain't my thing.

College Age
Kids ask about college and getting in and stuff. There isn't much non-school related talk there until recently.

20, 30-somethings
Cool part of the forum. The mature members of Soompi post there. They talk about anything, no specific guidelines. The webmistress of Soompi hangs out there.

Love and Relationships
I stay away from it.

Philosophy/Religion
People trying to act intelligent (including me). Lots of Christian topics though and non-Chrisitian topics become derailed by bible-thumpers frequently.

Health, Beauty, and Fashion
Clothes, makeup, shopping and stuff. Acne removal, hair coloring, weight loss, etc.

Have a bad day?
People complaining.

International Music
American, Japanese, Chinese music, et al.

Dramas
Korean television discussion. Lots of "All In" topics there right now.

Singers
Like the Members 411 section but singing clips instead of pictures.

Soompi Artists
Like above with artwork.

Anime/Manga
Mostly Japanese animation talk. Not really active there though.

Clans
People trying to join groups. There are some really dumb ones there. Clans include things like Ice Cream clan and LotR clans.

Requests for avatars and banners
People begging for things. People showing off their Photoshop skills.

Some other stuff too. Confused

Crap, another site that'll detract from my studies.....excuses excuses, but it'll be most humorous.

Shoosh,
