Rescuing a couple of cats from KARMA would be great; they have next to no chance of adoption, from what I've heard. You might have to be patient when going through the adoption process, but I'm sure it will be worth it.

Can I mention how awesome the selection of cat food in this country is?

One time my wife was eating a tin of tuna. She had something to do so she stuck it in the fridge so the cats wouldn't get it, and when she went to get it she accidentally took out a can of cat food. She ate most of it before she noticed both the cats going wild for it and discovered she'd got the wrong can.

I remember cat food back home not being so appetising.

My emart and homeplus both have the tidy scoop bottles like 14 lbs for 13K, Cat chow and whiskas dry food for 8-10K, wet cat food for 1200 a can. Also some of the pet stores/groomers have supplies for 1000-40000. I've seen toys, treats, carrying cases, litter boxes, scratching posts, kitty condos etc. If you come to Suwon I can show you where things are here.

There are quite a few places to get the stuff, I'm not sure where else to look Smile

I got a cat here 4 years ago. I adopted her from a Korean family who wanted a kitten and as soon as she grew into a cat, they didn't want her. Surprisingly animals do that Rolling Eyes

Anyways, she is still with me. We've moved from the northern parts to the southern parts and back again. She wasn't very welcome down south, Pohang, but back up here, Chuncheon, there hasn't been a problem. Emart has at least three kinds of cat food, and litter.

good luck with getting a cat! i adopted a street kitten almost a year ago, and she has just been fantastic. All the best!

I take our cat to Dr Kwon at the Chung Wha Animal hospital, he looks after the foreign clients and is really nice. It's down the road that Geckos/old Burger King is on down on the left opposite ChungWha Apt.

I get cat litter from Yongsan emart in the basement they have the cat food and supplies.

There are so many unwanted cats in Korea so definitely get one from a shelter. Smile

I wonder if Costco has their housebrand catfood here, Kirkland? Anyone know? If it does, that might be a good alternative.

My favorite cat food is Solid Gold Katz n Flocken. It is a very good natural cat food. If anyone knows where it is available, please let me know.

There is some good relatively natural dried food at Lottemart.

Also, Lottemart (not the local Lottesuper) has small cans of "Happy Cat" cat food for 1 kwon. My kitten loves this. They also have "Happy Dog" in the same size. Sometimes the Happy Dog is in the cat food section and the Happy Cat is in the dog food section, despite drawings of dog/cat on the can.

I tried some of the Fancy Feast, which my cats back home really liked. Here they seem to be foisting off a cheaper version or something. My kitten was reluctant to eat the Fancy Feast sliced turkey feast in gravy. Hell, at these prices you could almost afford to feed your cat beef!

Just out of curiousity, has anyone tried feeding their cat the local seafood, such as those little dried guppies they sell in bags, or dried squid, raw fish, etc? Any luck?

I found some pet stores I hadn't noticed before in Twegyero and between them they had a pretty good selection of food and litter. One of them had this little gray fella who is 3 months old and sweet and adorable. He was very friendly and not skittish at all, probably as a result of being pent up around 15 barking dogs all day. I was tempted to buy him, but I'm just gonna check out the animal shelter first. As much as I like him, I'd rather rescue a cat that's headed for kitteh auschwitz if I can.

That website koyangi.com discriminates against foreigners by requiring a Korean ID, so I'm boycotting it. I sent them an email about it and they said I have to ask a Korean friend to let me use their ID. F that. I'm not going to support a business that forces me to be a dependent little child and gives me zero respect, even if it's 100% of the web sites. I'll just order from Amazon and pay for the shipping here. I let the guy know that in the email I wrote back. Probably won't make a big difference, but
