That company is a total joke.

They charge up to 66% interest in short term loans.

A Korean showed an exposee that told the law was 23% max., same as most countries.

Rush and Cash responded by lowering their rate to 54%. As if that's some sort of solution.

Its funny, I sing that song at work everyday.

I only just found out on the weekend that Moeesa Moeesa means no interest. I knew there must be a catch. 66% is more then a loan shark.

I wonder if you don't pay on time, if they send the ugly chubby dude from the ad to come to your house and torture you with that singing until you pay up? Very Happy

66% is actually legal max rate in Korea. They're not loan sharks, well actually they are, legal loan sharks. These big companies do not send big dudes to your place to get their money back. However, once you get a loan from these places your credit rating drops to the ground, making it almost impossible for most ppl to pay them back. Then they will just send some ppl over to take whatever you have left, home, furniture, car etc.

Oh, they certainly do! I was discussing this very commercial with the girlfriend. It just so happens that her ex had money problems at one point. Two broken fingers and a near-fatal choking by several thugs later, was made to understand the loan was due ASAP.
My g/f actually freaked out when I asked about the commercial, as she thought I needed a loan or something, but was just asking because of the catchy tune.

I understand Korea is taking out huge debt to be able to live as it is too expensive to live here. Like Americans, they are it in big debt, but they are doing it banking on the future being bright through investment and raw physical economic growth that produces jobs and new wealth mainly through the export economic model common in Asian countries today.

Of course, you're in big trouble if you don't pay your debts and they will come after you physically if you don't. I had a gas company man pounding at my door at 8 AM of a Sunday morning for 15 minutes until I answered the door on my 7th week here, because I didn't pay my gas bill due to the fact I didn't know I needed to a week prior or how to as I was told my school would pay the bills and deduct it from my pay.

That guy must be famous. His picture, or pictures, was plastered to the bus shelter, dressed in a wide variety of fashions/sexes. I hadn't seen the ad lately, but it has returned to the screen, thankfully.

The one I really love goes:

"Dig dig dig dig digging around
"Dig dig dig dig digging the ground...."

That sure is catchy. I could listen to it all day.

Do you think there might be some hidden symbolism to the lyrics that escapes the Koreans?

I don't see how that's a problem in Korea. They have a nice commercial, don't they? English company name. Probably a professional looking storefront. Very polite verb conjugation when talking to customers. They deserve every 10-won they get.

The worst part about those commercials is they always remind me that Han Chae Young used to do their commercials. WHen she said, "rush and cash" it sounded much sweeter.
