|
|
Id really appreciate any advice here people.
My time in Jeju is running down to an amount of time I can express in weeks rather than months. I plan to move to the mainland and am really keen to avoid taking all my stuff home, which is actually an impossibility. The problem is I will be at home for a MONTH
How the hell can I get my stuff over to the mainland?
Is it possible to rent a car/van and leave it on the mainland somewhere?
What about removal companies? Storage?! Ugh! Would they be ridiculously expensive?
This is going to be a tricky one.
I know theres a few people on this board who have made the same move. I need some ideas.
cheers
unfortunately seoulsucker's response makes no sense because i retitled the thread

it's because no one knows how to help or they would have responded.
Big stuff u might want to think about selling. Other stuff u could put on a local flight to seoul as cargo or mail it to your new address. |

if you call seoul help at 02-731-6800 they might be able to help you find a mover or storage.
personally i'd ask a korean friend to keep it there for me until i returned and then have it shipped to my new address in korea
if you have large furniture or other large objects then you need to decide what's going what's not
if you don't have a korean friend to help, then call seoul help, also you can try tourist info at 02 1330 and talk to them - they usually have an answer for just about everything conceivable - i know - i call them a lot.
seoul help keeps day time hours only - tourist info is 24 hours
let us know if this helps, ok?

I heard some moving companies offer services to keep your items for few months so just call someone to help you out. Hyundai Shipping company has a quite good online service to get an estimate of your moving costs and good english speaking service. www.cyhds.com |

Do you think that those storage places have small-storage areas? 2 or 3 large suitcase-sized? |

You don't have to be a cack. People will help if they can, but moving and storage questions are always difficult for people to answer, simply because so many things in Korea like that are spur of the moment.
The only advice I can give you is to use Allied Pickfords, which is the company that currently has my stuff. You can email han.yoon -at- alliedpickfords.co.kr for more information. He speaks English and Korean. |

Rent a truck, have them drive it over, and put it in storage. What else are you going to do? I don't think it's that expensive at all. In Korea, stuff like cheese is expensive. Stuff that involves 2 guys and a truck is usually cheap. |

OK so here is what i did
this is the website of the company that I used
www.jejumoving.com
here are the number
064-744-6724
but here is the important number, the guys mobile
010-2272 2424 , he speaks english, is very friendly (he is the boss of the company) his name is ee tae jeong (sorry no hanguel on computer)
we paid 700,000 won for them to pick up all our things, store them for two months and have them delivered the other end (boxes included)
i dont know quite where we (me and gf) will end up yet, if its not in the greater seoul area it may cost more i dunno. This i think is a good deal for the simplicity and to save irritation and cost of selling everything and buying new stuff. |

70,000 won, they'll come, pick up your dozen boxes and bike and scooter and furniture. Store it for as long as you like, about 70,000 per 60 days, call them when you have a new address, and they'll bring all the stuff to your new apt. for about another 70,000. Easiest thing I've ever done in Korea. Moving was about 100X easier than a typical trip to KB bank. There are tons of moving companies, do call around as one place I called wanted 200,000 just for a single pickup. |
