I don't care if it's factual or not, but it sure does put the kebosh on the whole "mayan's were peaceful" movement, and attempts to make all white Europeans look evil. |
Seriously; history is a bit more complicated than just evil white men and innocent natives. Whatever the motive/meaning of the movie, it was very well done. It's obvious alot of thought and detail went into it. |

The simple, natural, manly, muscley hero, who only wants to live free with his family against the corrupt, cruel, effeminate forces of evil. The hero wins against the odds by being, unlike the bad guys, tough enough to take all the punishment and pain dealt to him. The bad guys provide justification for the hero to wallow in blood.
I think that's how it goes in most Mel Gibson films: Braveheart, The Patriot, The Passion of Christ, and now Apocalypto. |
