"Ive seen on two separate occassions the aftermath of a motorcycle crash....a real shame the victims were both young lads who were delivering the metal boxes of Chinese food. "

As a biker, I have all the sympathy in the world for two wheeled victims, in the right or in the wrong. I've lost a number of friends over the years.

But I have absolutely zero sympathy for the delivery punks who rip down sidewalks at 50kph, and then get bent at ME cause I'm walking in THEIR way. Run 'em all over......slowly.

Which reminds me. One got run over at the entrance to city hall a few weeks ago. Whoever did the outline, did a really good job. I'll try and post a pic.

I saw a guy get clipped blasting through a red light. He lived. But he looked in a nice, nice bit of pain. Skin + motion + asphalt. Dude is going to have some nice huge strawberries.

So I was reading the dead guy thread because it looked interesting and didn't give two thoughts to it until today. My hubby and I are walking near Isu station and there's a bit of commotion so we walked over and there's a dead guy. He looked homeless and he looked like he had just died naturally propped up against the outside of the subway station. He was a green color and his cheeks were sunken in. He looked like he'd been there for a day or so. The cops or whoever they are had a flimsy little towel to cover him up and most of the time I could see the dead guy fully. It was gross.

"They" should get a bigger towel.

Ah from your fingers to the Korean supply depot god's ears. If such a thing existed in Korea. Big towels. (Okay they do and they're not as hard to find these days but they're certainly pretty expensive and feel like sandpaper.)

I saw a drunk guy taking a nap on a side road, just off a main road, in the pouring rain. Cars were driving around him. "Sh@#" I think. Decide I gotta move him. I go to pick him up, and he reaches up and tries to choke me! Guess he was having a nice snooze. So, I grab his ankles and start dragging him. Then some suited 30ish guy gets out of his car and helps me carry the guy to the curb. It was totally worth getting choked and a little dirty, just to know that dozens of Koreans saw a big waygook doing the humane thing (but very possibly stupid thing), while they all sat in their cars not giving a sh#@. One point for the foreigners!

it was my first year in Korea. I met a foreign guy a few years older than me late one hot summer night and we met up with a friend of his.

we decided to go to a bar. the bar was up on the second level. we grabbed a table next to the window looking out on the street.

the guys would talk to each other occasionally about things I knew nothing about. while bored, I would look out the window.

there was a cross walk down below. I saw a Korean man and woman in their late twenties crossing. I looked away and when I looked back I saw a car flash through the crosswalk at high speed.

I saw the man and woman fly high into the air then crash onto the road and not move.

I saw the car pull over up ahead and a late teens guy get out. he immediately went to the front of his car to see how much damage those people had done to his car. he stayed where he was and started making calls.

the man and woman lay motionless on the road as pedestrians seemed to stand around stunned. another car came along at high speed and saw the couple and avoided them at the last moment.

an adjoshi went out onto the road and started waving off cars. 2 more adjoshis decided the man and woman were at a bad place so they grabbed them and half carried half dragged them to the side of the road.

an ambulance came a few minutes later and picked them up. they still looked like nothing more than broken rag dolls.

a few minutes later I left the bar and crossed the intersection. the liquids laying on the road made me decide they hadn't survived.

I have been paranoid of vehicles ever since.

Yeah look both ways and keep looking. Don't stop looking both ways even when you're on the sidewalk. Never ever stop looking both ways.

When it comes to health and safety in Korea, THIS is what newbies should be more concerned with. Saw a newbie listening to an MP3 player not paying attention and crossed the street when the cross traffic had a green light! Me and probably most of the motorists were simply stunned. I was too far away to shout a warning, but the newbie got lucky, VERY lucky.

Being a pedestrian is probably the biggest injury risk here. You outta make that signature MM2. Good one.

Saw a dead person in Thailand. I took the overnight bus from BKK to Krabbi. There was an accident. I looked out the window. I saw a man lieing on the sidewalk and a motorcyle cop was in the process of covering him with newspaper.

An older fellow jumped off the 18th floor and landed outside our 1st floor window. I didn't see him fall, but it sounded like someone slamming their car door really hard. By the time I looked out a crowd was already gathering. The dent in the ground was left there for almost a year. I heard he had some terminal disease. I've seen another jumper, but from a distance while driving by.

We also saw a car that had gone over an embankment go up in flames near Donghae. It had just happened when we arrived, and there was nobody anywhere near the vehicle, so I assume whoever had been inside was cremated--it was an absolute inferno.

The UN Honor Guard had the body outside of my barracks at Camp Bonifas.
My platoon had just finished its 3 day training cycle, and I was going into the barracks to drop off my gear and that's when and where I saw the body.

I almost got hit by a backing truck while standing on a very wide sidewalk far away from the street. Fortunately a nice Korean yelled at me.

Here's my tip. always stand near a pole. Hopefully the car or truck will hit the pole.

What? Who have you been talking to? I was nowhere near the place. I got witnesses, an alibi. Airtight. I was with my woman that night, and we were gettin' busy, an' she'll back me up on that, see? You got nuthin' on me, so better just leave the whole thing alone, if you know what's good for you. Unnerstan' what I'm talkin' about?

Oh, wait, I just read the rest of the thread, maybe I misconstrued something. Hey, forget I said anything. Never mind, heheh, just a big dumb mistake, you know how it is, sometimes you open your mouth and realize later ... sheesh.

Anyway, you guys can't prove a thing, I made sure of that.
