Chomsky is "Jewish" but he belongs to the set that includes the "non-Jewish Jew" and "self-loathing Jew", a la Marx, Rosa Luxembourg(sp?), Trotsky, etc. See Paul Johnson's A HISTORY OF THE JEWS.

Yes, I know he is Jewish. I posted those lines from the koran because twiggy said I'm a bigot for hating islam. I just want the little douch to know what exactly it is he is defending.

Incredible.

I have been reading and taking seriously Noam Chomsky for years.

Sure you have Laughing

I have! I initially became interested in him when I was a freshman looking for info on the war on drugs. While I've never considered myself on the 'left' I have great sympathy for leftist critiques of colonialism, racism (the real stuff, not the manufactured "isms" of today) and the like. I followed him very closely during the build up to the 2003 war.

But my time outside of North America has demonstrated to me how disgustingly one-sided the story of the cold war (and other related events) is. Chomsky, and his minions around the world, deserve some blame for this. On the one hand, they were dumb enough to believe the lies of the communist governments and on the other arrogant enough in their own ideas to manufacture crimes committed by America to further their cause.

Now, as an adult, my head is much more clear. Chomsky is just another cog in an industry of university radicals, each trying to one-up the other with claims of American evil (think Ward Churchill and the claims of genocide by blanket).

I applaud your courage in admitting you were wrong. It says a lot about your character.

I remember about 5 years ago, having the revelation of how wrong in believing many of the things I did. It's quite scary when you start to see the world as the Matrix that it is. The question that you are probably asking yourself now is, "how deep does the rabbit hole go?"

Only John Holmes could've answered that question, and he's dead. So I guess we're all FUBAR.

Deconstructing Chomsky might be fun for his enemies, I suppose, but to what purpose? Chomsky is an academic, so who cares in the end? What of those who make policy? What of the many and varied lies of the current US administration? That is worth deconstructing. It means something. Your attacks on Chomsky mean nothing. To anyone.

Keane: I have satisfied myself that you are very probably the poster formerly known as "EFLTrainer." (Your writing. Emotional and with exclamation points. Your narrow emphasis on W. Bush's "lies" on a thread meant to deal with Chomsky. Your resurrecting two of EFLTrainer's thread's after they were dormant for a month or so -- and your not-so-subtle siding with him. Your placing me between your crosshairs right away. And your exchange with BJWD on another thread. Just a few examples.)

Looks like you snuck your way back in, then.

Well congratulations. I suggest you and I stay away from each other here. This will, in fact, be my first and last response to you. My semester begins in earnest next week. And with any luck I will break the habit of posting here at that time and you can find someone else.

You are of no interest to me. What is of interest is the intense look at the "lies" of someone who means little in the end to the practical realities we deal with, but a steadfast and constant drumbeat of support for, and defense of, lies that have far greater impact.

The world is in a rather precarious place. My observation is germaine. Perhaps in your new semester you will learn not to speak of that of which you know nothing? Let me illustrate:

Quote:

I have never read Chomsky, friend. (At least not his politics.) It is difficult to understand how I could side with someone about whom I know virtually nothing in that regard. I know nothing of his politics. That doesn't seem to be of interest to you. Your assumptions are paramount, no? As with the current administration. Interesting intersection of style.

Let me further illustrate: What degree of ego does it take for you to assume my comment was directed at you alone? I said "your", and did quote your comment, but you are not the only one here attacking Chomsky. The use of "your" was general. As in "you all", for the Southern Fried among us. I didn't see the need to quote every comment on the thread because I found the one about his "lies" to be... the most entertaining.

Do study on, Pilgrim. Your studies are clearly not finished. You should discover relatively soon that your pronouncements do not, in and of themselves, make you omniscient.

The content of every post does not have to match your agenda. This isn't EFL'sESLcafe, where every post must document the crimes of Bush et al.

I don't recall stating it must. Sensitive, friend. Have you anything on the original topic or my observations on the futility of it?

I did a search on you. I can see why you'd wish to avoid further conflict. In your shoes, I might do the same. However, your reasons, as stated, are unjustified.

Might I suggest Anthony Robbins tapes?
