I'll be in Suwon in less than 2 weeks! Who else is there or will soon be there? It would be nice to meet some people before I show up. Howdy all you Suwon folks.

HT,
I've been in Suwon about 9 months now. We'll be headed in opposite directions, though. I'm going home in 3 weeks. Personally, I think Suwon's a really good place to live and work. It's a decent size city (1.5 million?) and, if you want to, you can be in Seoul in 40 minutes.

ok well it sounds like there are a lot of people who want to meet up and at least see who's here. So do we want to just make a get together here in Suwon, this weekend or next? I know that won't work for the OP since they aren't here yet but the rest of us can and then go from there.

For those of you that know the area in Youngtong better what would be a good place to meet up? How many people would be interested? Does this seem doable?

well I'm in Ingye-dong over near City Hall, the bus terminal, KBS Drama Center, that area of town, so if you can give me decent directions to tell a taxi driver I can meet you all wherever Smile

I propose a meetup two weeks from tomorrow Smile But that's just so I can come. If you meet up earlier though, I hope you guys have a good time and want to get together again when I get there!

Easiest way to get to Suwon. When you come out of the airport you'll see some booths for the limo buses (basically executive buses). I'm not sure what exit of the airport the bus to Suwon is, but you can ask inside. The ticket price is 12,000W.
Anyways, when you get to your booth, ask for a ticket to Suwon. It's about an hour long drive from the airport to here (depending on traffic).
The drop off point in Suwon is a hotel, called the Castle Hotel. From there, you can grab a taxi to where ever you're headed.
Good luck!

Paul

I'd definatly be interested. I'm always interested in meeting new people.
I don't know about anyone else who lives in Youngtong, but I always find that the easiest place to meet is Homeplus (easier to get there for non Korean speakers as the taxi drivers understand when someone asks for Homeplus). Also, it's a short walk to the bars in that area, so that's a bonus.
Any of the other Youngton people agree with this?
Anyways, if anyone is interested in coming out here next weekend and want to discuss it further, feel free to PM me and we can exchange numbers or whatever.

Paul

Ok why don't we set something up for next Friday night or would Saturday be easier. Like I said I'm in Ingye-dong so I'll have to taxi over to where ever. Which "dong" do we want to pick? I know on the streets between my apartment and the HomePlus/City Hall there is probably 50-100 bars/clubs/motels/noraebangs. I haven't been into them but we could do that as well. Or do we want to do Youngtong or over by the subway station?

I myself am only familiar with the Homeplus Youngtong area. I'm not against going anywhere else, but I do know that there are a few places where the foriegners do meet out this way.
As for the date, either one works. The bars here usually don't get busier until later anyways (after midnight time) so it's not like it's a matter of getting out to them at the earliest possible moment.
