Which neighborhoods in Seoul are most desirable to live in? As of right now, don't know where I'll be working, but in general, what are some of the nicer neighborhoods?

I'm looking to spend anywhere from 500 - 700 a month on rent each month. I saw a place in Hongdae the other day for 500 won, 10 million key money that was clean, but pretty small -I think it was only 8 pyung, does that sound about right? Nice neighborhood vibe during the day, but way too chaotic and noisy at night.

Would like a clean, comfortable apartment/officetel in a decent neighborhood, close to a subway station. A bathroom with separate shower would be nice, too. Wink

I have about 5 million won of my own that I could put down for key money in addition to whatever key money is being offered by my hagwon, so that could possibly reduce my rent.

Haebongcheon, if you want a big apartment, with a bathtub, for a cheap price. The key money is rarely 5 million, which is what (you're working for CDI, right) CDI offers, and it's close to Noksapyeong, it's in central Seoul...

I moved here last year after being 2 years in Bundang and Cheongdahm, and I like it a lot more...I have a huge living room, an oven, and 3 bedrooms, and it's just makes relaxing in my home a lot more comfortable.

Haebongchon...central Seoul? I'm still getting oriented. I don't really care about night life, but how is the vibe there in general? Lotsa expats?

And I don't work for CDI yet...but I'm entertaining an offer from them.

You must have a big budget, I would think? I went looking for places in that area today, and your apartment sounds a lot nicer than anything I saw within my price range. But ... life is expensive. I think I'm just going to have to spend more than I wanted to. It's probably worth it for a decent place.

I think most places around here are in the 500,000-800,000 won range...
