Man, you are so not Korean. Any real Korean would approach this issue by giving us all a 15 minute lecture about how Koreans don't traditionally use ovens. |

indeed. for me, its annoying, cause i wanted to try to make a pizza for my relatives. But o well. I agree with billybrobby. There isn't a single korean dish that requires the use of an oven |

Right. And I agree with MissSeoul that you need to give a 15-minute lecture to make a point. |

Don't forget all the negative impact a conventional oven brings! |

Many guys here say that their apartments don't have oven, so I tried to make them to understand why korean kitchens don't have oven |

If more Korean kitchens had ovens, would "traditional" Korean food not be very diiferent? :wink" |

Just think of all the different kinds of food Korea would have, if they had an oven to cook with at home.
1. Fish
2. Bulgogi
3. Galbi
4. Makchang
5. Pajeon
6. Pork Ribs
7. Bul-Dak
8. Mussels |

It definitely would be much tastier with more varieties of food dishes if baking was done here outside of western style foods like pizza, cake, and bread. There are ovens here, but they don't do lasagna and roast. Baking meat and potatoes is also much healthier than frying them, not to mention, much tastier. |

Back home, my mom uses the oven to cook some Korean food.
Usually its:
1. Galbi (she'll set the broiler and line the galbi up on a cookie sheet and broil them.)
2. Fish (She'll set the broiler and cook the fish.)
3. More Galbi.
Thats about it. In my house, like a lot of Korean kitchens in the US, the oven is a storage area for pots, pans, cookie sheets, and etc... |

Wow... Miss Korea...
you're such an expert on all matters relating to Korea - perhaps
with your enlightenment you can explain this to us...
Can you tell me why Koreans don't know how to use a toilet?
I am NOT korean , but I can't think why koreans don't know how to use the FLUSH button on a toilet after taking a DONG.....
I am talking about conventional toilet... (usually in public/school toilets)..
maybe - the reason they can't use an oven is the same reason they don't know how to use a toilet properly???
You must have been out of Korea for a long long long time now also...
because ALL my Korean (elementary) students SWEAR to me that pizza, french fries, spaghetti, chicken, etc are TRADITIONAL Korean foods...
how did the traditional Koreans cook them without an oven....????
p.s. - Notice I have been living in Korea for a long, long, long time... BUT my English is still better than yours EVEN THOUGH you've been living in the USA for a long, long, long time? ((no need to practice your English on here - it will never improve)) |

I have been to several of my korean co-teachers homes and they have oven in their kitchens. |
