Did anyone read the news today? The World Carnival (currently in Busan) had an accident on their 'gigantic wheel' (ferris wheel), and 4 people fell to their deaths. I heard they were foreigners and/or children.

It's a little crazy scary, since I visited World Carnival about 2 years ago in Incheon somewhere.

Found a (Korean) link here:

http://news.naver.com/news/read.php?mode=LSS2D&office_id=079&article_id=0000180959&section_id=102&section_id2=249&menu_id=102

Thought I'd give it a guick 5 min translation. In a nutshell, it says it that at 5:35pm 5 people fell about 60 metres, 4 of them died and one is in critical condition at Busan University Hospital. The four that died were all Korean and all from the same family: a girl aged 6, and women aged 25, 47 and 68. I'm not sure if the woman who survived is in the same family or not, but she's 25.

I think it says the height of the wheel was 66 metres, so they were almost right at the top when it fell, and 18 people were on it at the time of the accident.

Partially because I'm too scared to these days, and partially because I'm a father, things like this persaude me never to go on rides like this ever again, at least in Korea. I seem to hear of accidents like this at theme parks in Korea all the time. But lest I be accused of generalising, is the World Carnival actually Korean? I don't know anything about it.

Update: if you look at the picture here too, it looks like the car thingy fell, not that the people fell out of it.

Just went out to my roof to see anything but I guess as this happened yesterday all is quiet. I was just thinking that it looked so sturdy.

Here it is now.
