my boyf was given a months notice y'day, after 8 months. (they want me to stay). our concern is that they agreed to us having 5days paid vacation in september a few months ago. they wouldn't give us time off any sooner. presumably cos they were planning on getting rid of him. we have booked our holiday, but they are now saying they are not going to pay us on the days we are on vacation. it will be our last week of work there within the 30 days notice. we haven't taken any of the 10days leave we are entitled to in our contract. anyone know how to go about negotiating this?

Your BF just got fooked for holidays, airfare and severance. What makes you think you aren't next on the list?

Leave the day after payday and don't look back. Make sure to hand in your ARC at the immigration desk on the way out.

Take a holiday in Thailand or the Philippines for a month to get your head screwed on straight, then look for a new job.

This is a situation where you bring the guns out. Tell them you're going to the tax, pension, and health offices along with the labor board. It's funny how they back down when you mention those places.

You can get compensated fairly enough by using what you know. If you know they aren't paying pension, taxes, health, etc., tell them that you know and that you're upset. "I'm going to the labor board then and find out what they say."

They owe you vacation.
