I'm visiting my parents now and they're firefox converts. (I'm not...still love explorer.) Anyway, we have been unable to access gmail while using firefox for DAYS now. Recently occurred to us to try explorer and lo and behold, we've got gmail access again. Totally doesn't bother me a bit, but my mom's all upset about not being able to use firefox for everything. Anyone have any clue on how to fix this? I could possibly score major knowledge points with her. (in my family, even if we get the info from someone else, we still get the points) |

I use firefox, gmail works just like every other site...
Maybe there's a newer version of firefox you could try? |

Firefox works fine with gmail for me. but tell her to give opera ago. similar to firefox, a little quicker and i can not remember the last time i had to use explorer. plus it is safer than both FF and IE (i have not had a single bit of spyware, adware or virus since i started using opera)
couple of other things
type search words in the address bar (don't have to add google taskbars or go to google first)
mouse gestures
speed dial
if you want it has an intergrated email and torrent client (i don't use but they are there if you want). the torrent feature i don't like as i prefer utorrent and it is hard to change.
and the best part. when you close the opera it remembers what page you where last at and opens all the tabs that you last had open
plus the download is smaller than FF
http://www.download.com/Opera/3000-2356_4-10716106.html?tag=lst-0-1
so i know this did not answer your question at all but good luck |

I can't imagine google doing something that would favor IE over Firefox.
It might be some kind of cookie issue.
Was it switching to IE that fixed it? Will it work with firefox now?
You might explain to your mother that she will have to have multiple browsers if she wants to see everything, because there are always some
people who will make websites for particular browsers. |
