While watching the HK movie "A Battle of Wits" with one of my co-workers (a quasi-historical drama), I was told that there was also a famous female general in Korea, who later married one of the Chosun (?) kings.
Anybody know her name? |

| Superfly, I wouldn't have given you my picture if I'd realized you were going to share it with all and sundry. |

I'm surprised that hasn't been turned into a new K-drama (or has it?) |

I've searched and searched the Internet but couldn't find any information about her. Do you think you could provide some more details or point us in the right direction? |

TB,
After I made my little joke in post number 2 of this thread, I yelled downstairs to my wife: "HEY WAS THERE A WOMAN WHO WAS A GENERAL/MILITARY STRATEGIST THAT MARRIED SOME KING IN CHOSUN DYNASTY?!"
She said: SHUT UP, I BE COOKIN DINNER AND I'M HOT & TIRED YOU LAZY SOMBITCH!
later, she provided the said information. Said it was made into a movie or something. |

Oh, great.

That's just the first page. There are 122 more. Assuming, of course, that the movie was made into a DVD. |

Well, MY wife said there was such a lady, rather, there might have been. The figure may be legend.
Outline:
widow
married B-in-L (per custom)
very intelligent
May have loved the second brother in the first place, but had to marry the first husband for some reason.
Contrarily, other info says she was intelligent enough to see that the second brother would be successful, so married him.
That's as much as she knows. Ah, found this:
http://kdaq.empas.com/koreandb/history/kpeople/person_view.html?n=5337
= 66 BC - 6 BC.
Have at it. (Don't ask me for a translation. I don't have the skills for it.)
Ah, she found more:
Matricide!
More
and more.
I've banned her from any further searches. You're on your own.
Fly true, my babies. |
