| Very happy with my sweetie, but I'm thinking that might have more to do with him and less to do with his nationality (Cdn/UK). YMMV |

a man hits a woman and male perfect strangers will come to the woman's defense
a man hits someone's sister, daughter, mother and he'll have fists in his face in no time
back home violence toward women is not acceptable in the least: men beating up men is, however
.... and don't get us started on what happens when a man beats a dog... kicking a dog is the surefire way to go to the hospital |

| I think the nationality of the female and her expectations are also a factor. I perceive your question to be, who treats women better by western standards. |

I think it's that guy who was on Riki Lake and Jerry Springer all of the time.
You know... The one with the twenty kids with twenty different mothers who always said, "A-least ahma always treatin' mah woman raighnt!"
American, then? |

When I first came to Korea I was surprised to see women walking alone at night, with no fear of being attacked robbed, or worse. Back home, women would never walk alone at night.
I was also surprised that young children would walk to school by themselves, even if the school was a twenty minute walk away. Back home this wouldn't happen either.
In some ways, Korea is a lot safer than back home. In other ways it's not. |
