applesandshanana - word. Can't say I ever really got into Of Montreal, though. Kickass stripped down live versions of kickass indie-ish stuff with borrowed equipment: http://www.daytrotter.com look at the archives. |

I can't handle anything post-Satanic Panic in the Attic, but I can't give up the old stuff.
I'll check it out!

Which tracks? I've had stretches where I really dug Animal Collective, but nowadays only a few songs at a time hold my attention.
+81 was the catchiest, most fun song of the past year, and most of the rest of that album is spectacular.
Only heard a bit of Beirut, and isn't it amazing that nobody can get over NMH, what, like 10 years later? Good stuff. Obviously the most ridiculously ahead-of-it's-time album of this generation. I only found it around 2002 via some reviewer trying to prove he has good taste obscure reference reviewing an album I loved.
Shout Out Louds and Peter Bjorn and John are the poppiest most addicting albums for me these days. The Little Ones make me feel good. |

The fact that so many of you like great music makes me very excited to get over there. Finding that here is rare.
Smog, if you dig the poppy stuff, you should check out The Blow's Paper Television album. It's been some great driving music for me as of late.

Thank you for responding on Animal Collective! When they are good, they are brilliant. I agree with you, some of their music is garbage, but some of the songs off Sung Tongs are "Leaf House" and "Who Could Win a Rabbit."
Off the Feels album I would highly recommend "Did you see the words?", "Grass", and "Banshee Beat." The latter just absolutely kills me.
Off Strawberry Jam, "Peace Bone" is amazing!
Neutral Milk Hotel's In the Aeroplane Over the Sea is absolutely one of the best albums I've ever heard. Sure his voice is nasally and unapproachable to some, the lyrical aspects are so overwhelming.
Deerhoof is by far one of the best bands in music today. There is tons of filler in their work, no doubt. Weeding through is necessary.
Lupe Fiasco's "Ghetto Story" is the best thing he's done. Love it.
Beirut is great, but nowhere near NMH. Great music, though, if you appreciate the raw analog Eastern European indie take. |
