Let's see, 610 posts. Are you?

Can you quit?

I have 5354 posts at Dave's, and yes you can quit. I'm not going cold turkey but I've cut back tremendously.

Nearly half of my posts came in 2005, my third year here, when I broke my left heel and tore my achilles tendon cliff diving on a New Zealand trip, which left me immobile for a few months, followed by a broken big toe that summer when a student accidentally tipped over his desk onto my foot, and later that year I slipped at my apt's bathroom entrance, landing on the door frame bottom, causing severe sprains of the foot and knee ligaments of amazingly crippling impact, still felt to this day sometimes. 2005, the Year of the Foot.

Since then I often go weeks inbetween posting, and when I do come here for 4-8 days at a time I get tired of it and take extended time-outs. I am weaning myself off of it. It'll be pretty easy to quit totally when I leave this country next spring.

If I can do it, you can do it. Smile

Between grad school and my jobs, I spend a lot of time in front of the computer. Dave's is a page I flip to in between times...meh. When I'm busy, there is no Dave's.

I am still in quasi-retirement (though it doesn't seem like that anymore)

Why do I write on Dave's?

~ To keep friends, well-wishers and foes alike uptodate on what I'm doing in "the land of the big PX"
~ To give people some insight into what Korea was like during the pre-crackdown days and offer some advice on how to handle certain untimely situations.
~ Not all the posters are bad, negative and spiteful as some of the newbies posting here, I had met alot of insightful and helpful people through the forums here.

Dave's is like a dysfunctional extended family if you really think of it. Wink
