Just curious about this. Driving in Korea is always an action adventure... Not only because the people themselves drive like pigs being chased by the butcher, but because the road infrastructure seems to have been designed by a team of retards.
How about Taiwan?
China is definitely even more chaotic than Korea.. but for different reasons I guess. |

Taiwan can be Chaotic at times esp in the south where there is no decent public transport. Everyone drives a scooter. It is not difficult though and once you get used to driving there (knowing which laws people are not following ect...) it is actually pretty sweet. |

How about the scooters? Are they safe? Actually, I want to get a car to carry things that can't be carried on a scooter... I am thinking if I go to TW, I'll just get an old beater car... |

Taiwan feels more like an island. Korea seems more peninsular, unless you're driving on Jeju do. That feels like an island too, like Taiwan, but different, because it's Korea. Not peninsular though. |

Actually, I've driven on both the mainland of Korea and on Jeju; each for about 1 year, now. Quality-wise, Jeju was definitely worse than the mainland. Taxi-warfare to boot. Roads even more poorly designed (they never built right hand turn lanes on Jeju even though they easily could have, so cars never can turn right until the light changes green... but then sometimes taxi drivers will pick a fight with other drivers to get them to pull out into oncoming traffic just so they dont have to wait to make the turn Also, in Jeju City, because of the incredibly illogical way the stoplights are timed, it can take 1 hour to travel 20 blocks i *beep* you not.) Driving on Jeju frustrating and the drivers are more aggressive and invasive. In Seoul, its just plain crowded. Most other places, its almost like driving in a developed country EXCEPT normal driving habits imply people in Korea drive like they're on LSD so it can still get hairy.
I was just wondering, more specifically, about how well roads are designed and what are other drivers like in Taiwan compared to Korea. |

To quote someone else: You know you've been in Taiwan too long when you look at a scooter and think, "Ahhh, family car." |
