well, I gave an example above but I'll give another one. Racism is when people who define themself as a certain race (the definition of race has changed through history) hold social and economic power and exclude others from opportunities and priveleges according to the other's "race". Right now the caucasian "race" holds this power throughout the world and whether individual people have discrimination against other races, it doesn't change the fact that white people have benefits and privileges because of their skin color.
Examples of how race influences perceptions of beauty depends on where someone lives and the power structures in place. Today, in most western countries, a majority of the images defined as beautiful are white women with a specific body type. I'm saying a MAJORITY, not all, and this is still a problem. The eye-flap surgery in Korea can be traced to an inundation of racist images of beauty. |
What is the specific body type? You DO understand that evolutionary biology, more than 'racism' affects what we do and do not find attractive right?
large eyes, clear skin, full lips, thick hair, slim waist etc are cues for fertility and men are drawn to them because they show a woman is young and fertile- it has more to do with that than with racism.
and anyway-

Yes, Misogny is the wrong word, but it does, in fact, translate to hatred for women. Mis=anti; gyny=women.
"If men didn't objectify women, the human species would have gone extinct along (sic) time ago."
Well that's just fabulous! An evolutionary argument. And how many children has this archaic little mindset afforded you exactly? This is the ultimate cop-out argument. You're a free and sentient human being and if the best argument for treating members of the opposite sex like sub-humans is to point at your own base, unsophisticated mode of operation, then I have nothing to say.
Besides, calling a woman a feminist is supposed to be an insult? |
I thought it meant hatred against a gender, which could mean anti-male or anti-female by strict definition.
What about guys whose opinion on women is largely determined by what race or culture the women came from? |

I think it's that guy who was on Riki Lake and Jerry Springer all of the time.
You know... The one with the twenty kids with twenty different mothers who always said, "A-least ahma always treatin' mah woman raighnt!"
American, then? |

So, bub, got some names of these great pioneering - world's first men to back that up? You can start with the name of the man who first harnessed fire. No problem with some of your arguments against too-cool-for-school 'feminists', some of them on this board, but a lot of the stuff you've written above smacks of utter ignorance, presumption, and actual misogyny. It seems ridiculous to even have to point it out in this day and age, but plenty of women have done plenty of great, world-altering things, almost certainly a lot more than you ever will - deal with it. |

There's a difference between misogyny ands sexism. My vote for most misogynistic men goes to Saudi Arabia, based on the students I've taught from that region. Women are one step below a camel there! |

No, you're wrong, Racism can happen in anyone, irregardless of power relationships. Black people can be racist against whites, also, and so can asians, whether here, there or anywhere. It's about attitudes of hate based only on someone you perceive as different due to what someone might think are genetically-determined variances - and it doesn't have to be confined to any definition of "race" either : folk from Mexico and iran are are "scientically" defined as the same race as the majority of people inhabiting offices in the American govt, but there are plenty who are ready to express and act on their hate despite that.
There are, occasionally, valid reasons to hate other people. The reason racism is wrong is because it embodies a lot of wrong reasons for it. |

Yeah, I thought you'd find even that suggestion a little too difficult to follow. You're no Marie Curie, are you? |

Can we consider Ohio a country?
Seriously, sex, at the least, should be fun. Can we at least agree on that. let's be fair. Compaing what country has the most beautiful women or sexy women is not misogynistic, it's just guys bullsh*tting. Dave's is a good place to spend a little downtime. Guys like to rap about sex. I don't get much action, which is far from saying I get no action, but I love talking about the feminine mystique.
My ups and downs (not a double entendre) with women have helped me to approach each woman as an individual. All have a background that is unique. When i find myself having lot of fun with a woman, if I fel comfortable about it, I'm going to make a pass. if it doesn't work, it isn't the end of the world. It took awhile to figure that out. So many people, mena and women, seem to be settling some old score. F^cking back to get even for being f^cked over.
I pretty much ignore threads that deal with which country's women are so-and-so because it dosn't interest me. Women from anywhere can float your boat. except those saudi women. i mean, bow-wow. |

Isn't this thread basically the female equivalent of a 'Which country has the hottest asian women' thread?
Why single-out white guys? Why is generalizing whole countries of men's negative character traits somehow more acceptable than generalizing about the physical appearance of females?
Can't we all just get along? |
