There's a fellow named Daniel Kim who recruits for positions on Jeju. He's a good guy.

You're taking the piss right?

#2 is probably the most notorious recruiter in the entire country.

If this is a piss take could it be clarified? Sorry to sound dull and boring but as a newbie looking for jobs in Korea right now this is exactly the sort of thread I would use to try and avoid get screwed.

Well, number two on the list is the guy responsible for the major fake degree scandle about 3 or so years ago, and the reason that immigration now requires sealed transcirpts to get a teaching visa in Korea.

He was bringing over people with only diplomas, not degrees, and telling them it was legal to teach, and then making fake degrees without many of the teachers knowledge and filing the documents with immigration. 150 to 200 teachers were deported cause of this guy. I know the teachers weren't hear legelly but many of them didn't know they were here illegally because they trusted this guy.

It was all over the news and made immigration look very incompetent so they brought in the sealed transcripts rule.

How about this recruiter:

http://www.jobbusan.co.kr/

I posted it in the public school thread and apparently it's the one that songtan33 worked with and we all know his opinions. I want to hear from the people here about this recruiter.

The first reply was taking the piss b/c this question comes up frequently. OP, obviously you want to avoid the Top 5 he gave you. (I'm also surprised to hear they're not in jail). Anyway, it's a bit ludicrous (sp?) to get a top-5 list . . . when you deal with a recruiter, run a search here and with google to see what's been said about them. Do the same with the school, and post the contract so others can review it.

OP--- if you're still on American soil (assuming you ever were), I'd recommend K.E. Enterprises. Pretty much a one man operation run by Jerry Shin out of Los Angeles, but they're very good, and most importantly, VERY honest. (One of the only recruiters I've spoken to who openly differentiates between a job that may be open and a job that's actually being offered to YOU.) Jerry's number is: 213-480-9060 . Jerry will work with non-American recruits of course, but I'd imagine the logistics are a little more cumbersome.

Jerry also works pretty closely with Opportunity Korea near Jamsil station. Their website is here: http://opportunitykorea.com/ OK's specialty is going to bat for "problem cases"---- people who leave their jobs without a good reference or are forced to terminate their contracts early, but they're pretty good for anyone.

I work for Direct English (Pagoda) and our Recruiter , Ian Windsor, was extremely helpful. He is also here in Korea and has helped out a lot since we got here, even helped us find a great apartment. This is also a nice place to work, easy and good money. You should check it out.
