There was a lively debate comparing living in Korea VS living in Japan stared by poster Yu Bum Suk.

What happened to it?

It was interesting.

I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up as just another 'Korea bashing' thread.

That term "Korea basher / bashing" is an derogatory term which is used to try to defame anybody who tries to point out the flaws of Korea.

This is exactly the same censorship tactic the Bush Administration uses when they call people "UnAmerican" for saying anything against their policies.

Both terms are just examples of mud-slinging by people who cannot counter-argue the charges being made against them.

If things said on Dave's about Korea are outright lies, then the poster(s) should be disciplined, but people shouldn't be punished for telling the truth - be it positive or negative.

Likewise, the term "apologist" is a derogatory term used by many so-called "Korea-bashers" to try to defame anybody who tries to point out that Korea is not as bad as some people are trying to make out on here.

I don't support either term, but they are unfortunately very popular with many users on here as a simple, yet ineffective, form of attack.

Naw, it was deleted because it said "good" things about the Japanese.

Actually, it's a derogatory term for anyone who won't shut up about how much they hate about the place.

Allow me to roll eyes at this:

Rolling Eyes

Twice more for effect

Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Dollars to donuts the thread degenerated into the typical dick-measuring contest everything here degenerates into and it got pulled.

It was a good thread. irritating to have good threads dissapear for no reason.

Why not just delete the offending post and leave it at that?

I think the thread made Koreans insecure and was therefore deleted.

I agree it was a good thread. It made me look into a few myths and think twice about them. I hope it has been yanked for review and will be back, sans offending posts (if there were any - and if so, a shout out to the mods, 'cause that's quick action. There wasn't anything offensive about it the last time I checked in this afternoon.)

I think certain people were not willing to discuss comparisons despite similar things happening on a million of other forums. Rolling Eyes

Either way, opinions and comparisons will fluctuate wildy. Japan is so close - the only way to get a real comparison is to go over there and see what it's like.

Cute, but highly uninformative, as are most of your posts.

The only way to effectively compare the two is to live in both for AT LEAST two years, then an real comparison could be made (according to the person that did it).
