One of the teachers at school has been trying to understand why I am married yet I don't want to have any offspring.

She was telling me that she got married to have kids. I asked her why she didn't just have them anyway, why did she need to be married. She said it was illegal to have kids out of wedlock.

Is it? I would presume not and it's just a bit shameful for the family.

What happens if you do have a child out of wedlock?

Your avatar is massive and I was asking about Korea, not wherever you are from.

Do you know anything about Korea? Was there any point to the hijacking?

I can imagine she is the sort of person that I detest meeting who interupts conversations just so that she can say something.

and that avatar is hideous

Korea is a traditional Confucian society. Guess you don't know what that means.

Not sure if its legal or illegal.

BUT...MANY Koreans marry out of convenience. It's just more convenient and makes a lot more sense that the couple would marry for the purpose of of having kids. The woman often takes on a mother-type role with the husband anyways - whenever he is at home, and he's often out doing work-related activities and whatever is demanded by him. So, generally, he's gone.

I think it would be a real foreign concept to just have the woman NOT marry and try working 60 hours a week in an office just to afford kids she couldn't afford to spend time with.

Having kids without getting married is NOT illegal. It's just that not everyone will cheer for you and say 'Good job!' sort of things.

I couldn't imagine it being illegal but the woman was sure it was illegal.
